What files should I put on my DS Flash Card to allow me to boot into CFW (rxTools) offline? I know I need to re-enable the Profile Exploit / MSET, is there anything else to do with .nds?
I saw "rop_multiloader.nds" and "rxinstaller.nds" mentioned elsewhere. Are those still useful?

My new 3ds is currently on 9.8 firmware, is it advisable to go up to 10.3 before downgrading? As I see the 9.8 BrowserHax is unreliable. If so, how can I go up to 10.3, as obviously the most recent version is 10.5 if I do it officially?

I have a hard bricked 3ds with a backup (o3ds) after hard modding how do I know if it is connected to my pc or not?
Is there anything special that needs to be done to sysnand before installing CIAs to it, or is vanilla 9.2 ok?

Hokay. So, I wanna install GBA cia files. I installed it already on emunand, but I'm trying to install it on sysnand. I have rxTools, I need to get into devmenu or rxmode in sysnand(I think). But when I hold L when starting up my 3DS, it shows the RX logo for a brief second, and goes directly to emunand. How can I get into the RXmode again, so I can install the GBA cia on my sysnand?
Also, my health and safety is on my emunand, but on my sysnand, the icon is gone.

for most cia games you need cfw (you can install "legit" cia on any fw 4.1-10.3)
basically if you have a hardmod and your nand.bin then make a backup and brick for any reason you can use the hardmod to restore it to its previous state
you can boot offline with menuhax the guide has you have wifi on to install it after you can turn wifi off and use menuhax to autoboot cfw offline
but to answer your question you need to downgrade mset to the appropriate version first you can find the mset cia on that iso site then you need rxinstaller.nds to install ds profile hack
first dont (& why?) launch things from fbi
second its a bug ignore it
bigbluemenu (bbm/title manager) is modded version nintendo official property (devmenu) also the most user friendly (bbm knows if the file should be installed to nand or sd and decides accordingly) (when deleting a cia file it will show files on destination nand and sd at the same time but unlike fbi it will only show you games and apps no fw files so anything you see is safe to delete if you see fit . . . if its there that would include that bug file
. also note. if any of your systems have the black box issue on home screen then this can fix that issue as well)bigredmenu is a hb dev made cia installer (allows for replacement of existing titles)

Firstly, will I be able to backup and play 3ds games from the SD card?
Will I be able to run emulators?
Is there a way for me to still access the eshop to buy games and get patches? (Online play is not an issue for me)

A friend of mine wants to downgrade his o3ds from 9.8 to 9.2, sliderhax doesn't seem to be working and he has ocarina of time, what is the best way to downgrade it in your opinion?

Yes, you will be able to backup and play 3ds games from the SD card by installing CFW. However, they must be installed to the SD card as cias.
Yes, you will be able to run emulators. Check out Retroarch.
Yes, emuNAND will allow you to access the eShop, play online and do everything an unmodded 3DS can do.
You will be able to do a transfer from your O3DS to the emuNAND of a modded 3DS; this can only be done after the 3DS has had CFW set up and emuNAND updated. You'll also need to update the O3DS to 10.5.
You can only be a teapot if you have a handle and spout.
You won't lose any functionality by modding currently; you'll only gain more.
There actually is a way to downgrade your 10.4 3DS as well, it requires a hardmod though. Information on this can be found here if you're interested.
As long as your friend has a method to get into the Homebrew Launcher, the method he uses to get into it doesn't matter. If Browserhax isn't working, but OoThax is, then using that will be fine.
Don't upgrade to 10.3 first, this would be more dangerous than just downgrading as you'll have to mess with the NAND's files twice instead of once. Downgrading straight from 9.6 is the best option.
Sorry if this has been asked I couldnt find it, but when im using FBI in my EmuNand, is the NAND option the system nand or my emunand nand?

No problem! 10.5 can be downgraded with the same hardmod method 10.4 can currently; I don't think there's any benefit to being on 10.4 over 10.5, since Memchunkhax2 was patched in 10.4.
Hi, I'm fairly new to this scene. I tried downgrading my n3dsXL and it resulted in a semi-downgrade. I cannot access system settings and my internet connection wasn't saved. I have access to ninjhax and oot3dhax but the problem is I don't have an internet connection to use those hax. The browser also hangs. Considering my original 9.6 ninjhax didn't work anymore I'm assuming the firmware did get downgraded to 9.2. Is there anything I can do?
