Seriously, this whole "friendly neighborhood" Nintendo start being ridiculous.

How much of chance we could bring those feature back into US rom? I was thinking of buying it to support the franchise but I not the guy who buy Playboy magazine without nude model in it.

I guess this wouldn't be too difficult consider we already be able to extract model and modified text in Japanese version. But what about "petting mini game" feature?

have you been under a rock? serenesforest predicted this a year ago and are already on an English text and menu translation of the noncensored Japanese version. it requires running custom firmware and being on 9.2 though. if you're on firmware above 10.3 you're pretty much screwed because you won't be able to downgrade. also i doubt someone would bother uncensoring the English localization since there's already a fan translation of the Japanese version in progress. if you want to ask any more questions i think @shadowofchaos has some answers although he'll probably redirect you to serenesforest anyway. there's a prepatched v3.0 translated .cia on that iso site already. maybe if you foolishly updated you can use a regionfree launcher to play an expensive Japanese import and use HANS to load a patched romfs dump but then you won't have access to the third path or DLC. it's likely you're sol if you even bothered with the new Fire Emblem and expected it not to be inevitably censored and a whole feature removed entirely from the game. if you updated your ship has sailed. better save up to buy a lower firmware 3ds on eBay.

I can see the fan translation on the first page, you don't need to tell me that. I also a regular guest at that iso site. And I have a Gateway.

But I'm not so certain at the translating quality a fan translation can have. And to my knowledge, I sure that they hadn't finish the translation yet, only two patch of the main game and some support conversation had been translated.

The translation is really good and the game is fully translated, the 2 main paths. You can check Linkmstr's youtube for the full let's play. You can try and uncensored your own version but I think you would be on your own, because like @supermariorick said, the translation it's pretty much the uncensored one.

the only untranslated parts are the support conversations, most of the third path, and the DLC. but the entire menu itself except names for some DLC items is in English.

if you're on firmware above 10.3 you're pretty much screwed because you won't be able to downgrade.
Uh, what? Nintendo didn't patch downgrading, but if they did that in 10.4, it's still possible to downgrade on 10.3, right?
Okay, 10.4 fixed mch2, but you should be able to downgrade if you're on 10.3.
However, you should be able to play dubs and such, because you don't need to downgrade to play them, you only need HANS.

I agree with this thread. I don't neceissarily think anyone should have to add the petting mini game into the U.S. Version. However, I just will not play the fan translation. Why? Because if an official translation is being released in the U.S. I would much rather enjoy the game officially translated, how it was intended. It would be another story if fates wast coming to the U.S. at all. But I really don't understand the fan translation from my perspective since an official version is coming soon, you just have to wait.

Fan translation or not, I would like it more if the VA was the one for the English game, though knowing Nintendo there probably won't be any English VA for the petting game. If it means having that one part in Japanese with everything else in the official English, so be it.

I prefer an incomplete English fan translation of the Japanese version over a game that has features removed that shouldn't have been just so the company can push the rating down so more people will buy it in the US. Also I prefer Japanese voices over the English voices casted by English voice actors that sound horrible and rearrange sentences and grammar for no reason. I also despise the English localized names. there I said it. Kamui is a way better name by thousandfold than Corrin. I even understand why it is Corrin and where the name comes from but it sounds too much like Corn. also they changed Zero to Niles. I don't understand the reasons for the shitty renaming and prefer the Japanese names more. @shadowofchaos has his own personal translation where he even changed Nohr back to Anya and Hoshido back to Byakuya and I am jealous honestly. call me a weeb but I agree 100% with @shadowofchaos on his weeb tastes and his preferences on Fire Emblem If. also I will never call it "Fates" ever. the moment the trailer for it released the name they gave it disgusted me. If was such a better title in every way. after all that unseen bonds and anti-fate and anti-destiny stuff in Awakening, it just seemed off. calling it "Fates" implies predetermination, a factor that Kamui eliminates with choices. If doesn't hold the same implications "Fates" does. now to wait for the inevitable replies.

Fan translation? Not to mock other people's work but we should take the official text and voice acting of the NA version and patch it into the Japanese version, that's what I want to see. I guess we can't do that just yet.

I get why people are mad about censorship, but from actually playing the fan-translated version I'm not sad to see the petting thing go. That was one of my main problems with the game, and I can see most (Read: general Nintendo player base) being uncomfortable with it.

So yes, for a lot of the dedicated long-time fans of the series, the removal sucks. For a casual western gamer, I think NoA made the right choice. Vocal fans arent the only fans that play the game, and Nintendo has to think of the majority.

I just kinda want the official text, voices are trash (IMO) in the english version.

Why uncensoring this when you can enjoy the original japanese version Fan Translated :^)
Subtitles bother me, so I have to stick with a language I know personally :P

Not for just FE, I wish more people understood this in general.

See, I can completely understand this from a business standpoint, but I will still refuse to support it. It's obvious that petting your soldiers (along with all the rather saucy voice acting that goes along with it) could be pretty weird to a lot of folks. Plus, we all know how most mainstream sites would jump on Nintendo's back about it (such as with the whole scandal about Soleil's support with Kamui).

However, I still will not support censorship of any variety, and poor translations (notably NoA's love for inserting memes into everything, 8-4 changing Henry and Gregor in Awakening, etc) only add to that.

You can do that fairly easily, provided you have the necessary files. If you decrypt the ROMs of both the JP and US Special Editions of the game, you could do a simple file swap and then rebuild the ROM. In other words, take the US script, replace all the JP files with the US files, and then rebuild the ROM. The current fan patch does exactly this, but it uses modified files instead of the US files.
