Yes, but it requires a hardmod to do so. If you're going to hardmod your 3DS, you should hard mod it before downgrading. That way, you can have a NAND backup in case anything goes wrong during the downgrade.

I see, so there is no way to extract it purely with software like we can do with systems already on 9.2? I'm skeptical of my soldering abilities, but I suppose I could give it a shot. Thanks for the info.

As I haven't received next to any help in my thread, I will repost my question in here:

I've recently set up my 3DS with Menuhax and emuNAND, so I was wondering if there is any way after having formatted my sysNAND and emuNAND is there any way I can reverse what I've done and recover my save files and to have the games downloaded from the eShop reappear on my Home screen?

I was recommended to install SaveDataFiler but afterwards I have no clue as to how to even get my purchased games to reappear let alone get my save files operating again.

Additional information on my sad situation can be found in here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/recover-games-and-save-files-after-hacking.412024/

when you unlink nands, your emunand retains the id of your sysnand prior to unlinking
so you can try restoring the SD card backup in your emunand folder, and see if they show up.

if it doesn't work, the only thing I can say is download all the games again from eshop (spoof your fw version using HANS) and then restore your save files

I've begun already putting the very first backup on the SD card to see what happens, if anything happens. And how do I go about performing the latter?

To my knowledge it is only possible to dump your NAND via software on 9.2 or lower. I believe it requires ARM9 kernel access which is only available on 9.2 and lower. If Gateway's 10.3 support update is actually native 10.3 support and not just a downgrade method, it will be possible to dump your NAND via software on 10.3 and below. But until it's released, we won't know.

If you have a NAND backup from before you formatted sysNAND and you either haven't wiped your SD card or have an SD card backup, you can restore your saves.

You'll need to restore the NAND backup to sysNAND. From there, you have two options.

1. Backup your SD card, format a new emuNAND then restore your SD card backup. At this point your saves will be available in both sysNAND and emuNAND. Remove the SD card and format sysNAND. Your saves will now only be available in emuNAND as your NANDs are unlinked.

2. Restore your SD card backup (ignore this if you haven't wiped your SD card). Use SaveDataFiler to extract all of your saves. After this, use SaveDataFiler on emuNAND to import all of your saves to SD. Your saves should now be on emuNAND.

for the second option, which is where you redownload everything from eshop, use SVDT (homebrew)
I don't recall the folder name right now (i think its called saveBackup) but you can dump each save in there, one at a time, and restore to its corresponding eshop download. I suggest launching the eshop title once to initialize the save before attempting to restore it using svdt. after restoring a save, you'll need to delete the contents of the saveBackup folder and place the next save to restore. repeat til completed.

if you're performing this in emunand, you need to launch homebrew browser while in emunand.

If you have a NAND backup from before you formatted sysNAND

reading the other thread shows he doesn't have a nand backup from before formatting

see this

I didn't backup the NAND after downgrading, outside of dragging and dropping everything onto my desktop, so I guess that's where I messed up.
I only backed up the emuNAND which was much later in the process after the games were already 'gone' from the home menu.

I don't think there's a way to recover the saves without having access to the NAND tied to the saves. I might be wrong, but I've never heard of it being done.

for sysnand, I definitely agree.
the reason I mention emunand specifically is because when you create an emunand, it retains the ID of the sysnand that you format.
now, whether emunand retains its' previous ID when it is formatted... I have no idea. but if it does then the general procedure I described would work. download purchases/restore SD to emunand -> restore saves
if emunand ID changes when it is formatted, he or she is out of luck until there's a way to decrypt the saves w/o having access to the NAND that created them

EmuNAND is just like sysNAND when it's formatted; a new ID is assigned to it. That's why when you create an emuNAND it's suggested to only format sysNAND. That way you still have access to everything on emuNAND.

dang, sorry @Monochrome Twist, seems you're out of luck for the moment if both emunand AND sysnand were formatted, and you don't have a backup from before formatting

Man this sucks. I'll have to start over for everything until something comes down the line, and in case it does I won't get rid of my old stuff. But even then I don't think my Streetpass data will even be retained? My friendslist is wiped too.

looking to downgrade my 10.3 N3DS, am i too late?
from what i read theres a lot of soft brick happening while downgrading and i dont have the luxury of recovery mode since 10.4 is out now

so from what i understand if my downgrade fails and i go to recovery mode, ill be at 10.4 meaning i only have a single try?

anything i can do to make sure everything goes smoothly? and at what point do i get soft brick. can i only be soft bricked during sysupdater? or is it also possible during menuhax.

Only in sysupdater, and only once it's actually starts downgrading. I've heard some success by formatting your console before starting. You should also find "safesysupdater" in these boards and use that as it will validate that you have the correct files for your system

Planning to get homebrew for now before i downgrade, is what im planning correct? i have Sky3DS with Cubic Ninja so i assume i can use NinjHax 2.5 as an extry point, then i plan to install MenuHax so i dont rely on the cartridge and its easier boot to Homebrew Menu. after that i wont need Ninjhax anymore to boot to Homebrew Menu

N3DS/V10.3 btw

-edit is browserhax still working? will that be easier than ninjhax?
