That would be really nice.
Loved it,one of the best friend-interaction app.

Rarely used Spotpass after the deactivation.

Man, I really want to do this now. Time to hit the books! (And by books I mean C++ coding guides, and a lot of info on the 3DS. XD)

I started playing draw attack and honestly I could see this game easily become integrated into a Swapnote/pictochat software.
I mean, everything you need is there.

Type function
Drawing function
Multiple color options
server functionality

I mean, take Draw Attack and add a messaging program to it. Messages are sent through a dedicated server.
Honestly, the biggest problem is hosting the server that everyone can use. That can get pricey and no one is going to want to put out the cash for it.
Unless you could create a spotpass DNS, and that would be complicated. A server would the the easiest thing, but you need to have it open 24/7 and it would be even better if messages could be sent while the app is inactive.

What is the dev working on Draw Attack up to? I would definitely ask him if he would be interested. I can't code, but I would most definitely help make the assets needed. Like stationary, music, buttons, etc.

Would love to see a remake of it.
Also i would help on making a Server Side application. (C#, Junior Developer :D, perfect School Project.)
The only problem i see is, thats it's would only check for new mails, when you open the homebrew. So a notification System itself wouldnt be that helpfull.

Someone mentioned that a notification system was already made for homebrew. Could it be transferred over into an application? Maybe. Do a search for it and see if anything comes up.
Also checking for mail when you opened Swapnote was how it originally worked. You would open the application and you wouldn't actually download any new notes until you logged on.
So the notes were saved server side, and when the recipient logged on they would be sent out and downloaded.

The problem with notification i see, is a "api" to send them when you're in you system not hbl. But since messages only get downloaded while you're connecting. (After the "Handshake") there is no reason for a notification.

If you would use a server, not a php based or p2p based stream, you also could send messages by mail, youre smartphone and and.. and just be parsed by the server.

tl;dn Who needs notification if we could make it better then it ever was! :D

So, if I'm understanding correctly, notifications are done through other devices and replying/reading messages is done on the 3DS?
Like you can check your phone for a new message, and then look at it on the 3DS?

That seems fine, but I'd still prefer seeing a notification on the 3DS, since that's the device I'd read the message on. Though, notifications, in my opinion aren't that necessary. If I were using this program, I would just open it and check it occasionally throughout the day. You know, you wake up in the morning and check for new messages. It would work the same way for this.

About the CIA idea - one would just need to make a simple homebrew that displayed HTML and displayed the responses, and use a keyboard library. However, Nintendo need to update the SSL certs so LetsEncrypt doesn't give off a warning.

My PictoSwap name is pokeacer btw - add me :P

Letterbox (or SwapNote as you yanks call it) was a pretty 'okay' app in my opinion. I never really used it for much though, except for 3D doodling and pretty colors...

Oh, and also the fact that you can make several pictures and put them into an MS PowerPoint-like presentation. :P

Yeah, the only possible kind of notification i see, is through a other device. But maybe i'm wrong and we are much further with cfw or tools.

Yeah, to get the messages cached from server on the 3ds, nothing special. Like i said, if someone would make the 3ds client, i would make server and if needed ready to host it.
I would love to have a little application like it again. :/

Not only C++, but you'll probably have to learn stuff like mySQL or some other form of SQL, as well as some other server-side programming.

That I understand. Nvm though, the language is too hard for me.
Actually for the Server Side you dont really need c++... its just a question about what kind of connection^^
MySQL is also nothing special.. look at a few "login / register" php scripts and there MySQL files and you will get it.
About Client Side.. never looked into the 3ds coding :D

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
