After a bit back and forth and got stuck that I can't boot my emunand even after re-formatting my SD card and making a new emunand.

I'm on 9.2 SysNand.
I boot via Bootmanager into RXTools / Homebrew Menu (which was installed via Sliderhax -> Menuhax)

Whenever I boot RXtool i just stays black or hangs on one of the colors (red or yellow) during the boot up... kinda lost since I'm running out of ideas of what to do.

Should I maybe completely restart the "hacking" process (aka wipe sd, wipe system)

are you booting to code.bin

when you make a new emunand you need to boot back into the homebrew rxtools.smdh so it can generate the data suite first

*bump*
even after completly formating my SD card, and sysNand and installing reinand (following a guide)
I still get stuck on a black screen when launching the emuNand - @wurstpistole mentioned that it could be a broken emunand - could this result from a broken sysNand since I created the emunand twice and it was broken both times?

No idea if it matters, but since you mentioned broken SysNAND, did you do the titles.db stuff so that it repairs them before making your EmuNAND?

Yup I did - literally followed the guide step by step and double checked every time.

I did have Gateway downgrade to 4.5 before (wasn't intentional as I followed a different guide which that) afterwards I restored my Nand from 9.5 which I did before.

Weird. I can't really help you, sorry, but if there's nothing you wanna keep on SysNAND, starting over, formatting and updating and redoing the entire thing might be a good idea. Report how things went whatever you decide to do please! : - )

Yes I think thats the best - Should I format in a specific way? or just a generic SD formatting on windows and a normal formatting of the 3ds in the system menu?

Personally I'd just right click the device in Windows (assuming it's not SDXC) and go to Format, make sure it's Fat32, then format the 3DS from the system settings.

Ok so let's document this whole process and hope I can identify (with your help guys) where the issue is.

This is a one-time post, but it was written step by step as I was going through the procedure. Let's hope I can boot the emuNand.

----

Starting position

  • Deleted emuNand Partition on SD Card with EaseUs Partition Master
  • Formatted SD card (SHDC 32GB) on Windows to FAT32 (no quick format)
  • Formatted 3DS to be safe
    • Current sysNand: 9.2.0-20E
    • This nand was installed using sysupdater from 4.5 (which was downgraded before via Gateway) - I did follow a weird guide before, which I explained in a different post before

Step 1

  • Downloaded and placed on SD card:
    • Homebrew starter pack
    • EmuNAND9
    • FBI
    • PastaCFW Ninjhax 9.0-9.2
Folder structure screenshot

  • rebuild the database
  • scanned QR code - sliderhax launched homebrew launcher
  • launched pasta CFW
  • scanned QR code - sliderhax launched homebrew launcher
  • started FBI
  • installed FBI - success
  • exit HBL
  • noticed there is no FBI icon? normal?
Step 2
  • Launched theme manager and selected a theme for preparation
  • entered HBL, started emuNand9
    • dumped sysnand to SD
  • backed up SD
  • started "Complete EMUNAND Setup"
    • Guide mentioned
"ignore the warning that starter.bin is missing"
    • This error did not happen, instead the tool wrote:
      "Writing starter.bin to SD card..."
  • Copied files back
  • unlinking NANDs - formating system after fresh start
  • added dbs to new Nand folder (Nintendo 3ds/ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
  • rebuild the database
Step 3
  • placed reinand and cake files on SD
  • added needed files to each of the CFWs
  • changed theme once
  • QR code -> sliderhax -> error after glitched screen, landed back at home menu
  • restarted console
  • re-added starterkit to SD card
  • cleared save data on browser
  • attempt 2 - same error
  • backing up and wiping SD card
  • attempt 3 - success -> menuhax installed with "type 2"
  • copied files back to SD
  • added bootmanager

1st Bootup
  • Bootmanager boots
  • Reinand is selected
  • let timer run out
  • stuck / frozen
  • shutdown
2nd Bootup
  • Bootmanager boots
  • select Cakes manually
  • cakes menu appears
  • select Boot CFW
  • black screen
  • glitch screen
  • back at bootmanager

Homebrew Menu and SysNand both launch without issues....
Now I'm really lost...
