If you're that disappointed, why buy a Wii?

because i enjoyed wiisports.. very much.

I don't know if this applies, but I generally find I think less of games when I can get any of them for free (ie. when I can pirate them).
i actually bought wiiplay and trauma center 2. and i tried tricking myself into giving them a fair go. they still suck. okay, trauma center has potential. i just give up on games too quickly.

maybe you guys are right. there should be better games coming.

i may also be a little bias because this is the only console i ever bought (meaning in my entire life). so i'm not really a gamer per se. my friend gave me her ps2 last year and i played a few games on that though--which were absolutely fantastic (mgs2,mgs3,shadowofthecolossus,gtaseries)

I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of high def output (argh the blocks!). Surely the console would have an easy time rendering Wii Sports in 720 or 1080...Â

i woke up at 6am to wait in front of a target to get one from a new shipment ($260 after tax)
i bought an extra numchuck ($20), two classic controllers ($40), another wiimote ($40), two GC wavebird controllers ($76), comp cables... etc etc
i wait two weeks for a wiikey. go through all the trouble to install it. get a hundred verbatim dvd+rs. get some games (over 35GBs worth).

and low and behold. wii games suck! the only ones i am not completely bored of is wiisports and zelda. i'm pretty disappointed.

Well don't you feel stupid

Thats why you always TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!! I got my Wii on release day but only after I had went to EB a couple times before to try it out. Zelda rocks but wiisports has gotten boring to me lol.

Red Steel was good, I was pretty good at it, I found that if i rested my arm on the side of my couch when playing i'd be damn accurate.
Warioware: awesome fun, nuff said, too short though
Dragonball Z: would be fun, but the moves are hard to pull off
Excite Truck: Really fun, but once again too short, and doesnt have enough content
Zelda: very awesome, but once again too short, even though it goes for 40 hours +
Sonic Secret Rings: this seems like a good game, and seems pretty long
I'd defintly suggest getting Gamecube games, like resident evil 4, super mario sunshine, strikers, etc as they are good to play while you wait for more Wii games to be released

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
