If you've successfully installed rxTools and can boot in emuNAND, install the "sysupdater.cia" (latest version) using FBI.

Extract the 9.5 FULL update that you downloaded from that ISO site on the root of your sdcard (you should see an "updates" folder there), make sure that you're using the file with the correct region and make sure that it's for the system that you have (whether the OLD 3DSXL or the NEW 3DSXL)

Open sysupdater app and update from there

Just going to post this video, It's not my tutorial but after trying countless times to get it working I followed what this guy did in his video, including the db files part and the mashing b out of ftpony.

Following his steps it worked after 2 attempts. I also double checked the cia update files were correct for my system (N3DS europe) and they were in the updates folder on root.

Maybe I just got lucky, but I seriously lost count of my attempts before finding the video.

Hold on, he removed the dbs files, would this work for someone who has an Error Has Occurred after downgrading on a 2DS while keeping the NNID linked?

I'm not sure. I literally followed everything he said in the video, and he provides the stuff you need in the description. (except the firmware files of course)

Doing that is just about what a System Format does. You could try it since at least those software titles can be backed up through svdt, for example. This way your Mii Plaza data, NNID, Friend Code, etc. will be intact. If you don't mind doing that, please do post your results. You will have to redownload your games.

Is downgrading from 10.3 perhaps more stable than downgrading from lower versions? (in my case, 9.5) or should it make no difference?
I first tested downgrading my Old 3DS which was at 9.9 with browser nag. So I updated that to 10.3 to do the downgrade, which worked perfectly.
Now it's time to do the same to my N3DS, which is at 9.5. I have ninjhax and menuhax available as entry points. Will the downgrade run fine from those, or would you recommend to update to 10.3 and downgrade from there?

I'm having an issue here, upon the reboot of the 3DS after the downgrade installation I get "an error has occured"

This has happened dozens of times already, I've tried different entry points (ironhax, menuhax) and I successfully get the sysUpdater running perfectly and the cia informations installing each time. BUT, upon reboot (and even times when it froze at reboot and I take the SD card out) I always get softbricked with the error message and I have to reset update again with LRAup.

I've searched through this thread for different methods of people who had the same issue but I'm not quite sure what to do on my end. I really don't want to format my SD if I don't have to, is that my final option? I just don't understand why it won't downgrade properly.

I'm on old 3DS 10.3(U), and yes I'm using 9.2.0-20U(Full) and using the latest sysUpdater by Julian20, all of which run fine and install properly until I get softbricked at reboot.

I'm getting "Failed to find CIA file info" error with this even though I downloaded the correct file and verified the checksums, both of the zip file and the individual files (102) in all. I'm on a 10.1 N3DS XL (MM 3D version) and running the sysupdater from the OP.

Failed to get CIA file info

I transferred the files to the SD fresh again, after this time making sure to unblock the zip file and unzip it with 7zip, and still get the same error.
What does is mean "use the home button if you run the CIA version"?

Someone helped me find out the problem. the latest update of super smash bros requires a higher firmware. You will need to use CFW or Gateway emunand to play it.

I got a CIA pack for a USA New3DS which has a matching MD5 checksum to the OP, but the SHA1 lacks the final question mark. Other than that, it's all the same. Is this ok to use?

Did you use sysupdater to upgrade to 9.5? I haven't gotten around to upgrading emunand yet on the DG console.

Although now I don't know how to install custom themes... (I don't mean cia themes)
CHMM2 doesn't seem to be working right...

You're o3DS so it might not be the same, but for those of us with N3DS that got this problem, formatting the 3DS itself (not the SD card) did the trick. I had well over a dozen soft-bricks, and when I formatted the 3DS it worked the first time.

If you installed the update, but youre getting an error, reboot WITHOUT your sd card. Then insert your sd card if it boots up successfully.

I downgrade successfully, but kept getting a black screen. I took out the sd card, and everything worked
