theres really no need to use small wires when using the quicksolder method, just done my 6th quicksolder install today, and i soldered this in 5 minutes:

it will be really easy to take this out, just hold the solder wick at the solder on the chip and it will come loose in seconds.
also i never had any problem with this at all, and the best thing you have direct connection and you dont have to use any tape, so its also faster for my customers.

I don't understand why some people who have never soldered before just go ahead and do it. why not practice on some bum circuit board before hand to minimize fuck ups?

And that solder job in the pic above is pretty bad. the solder looks dry too. It may work, but for how long?

Very nice job..
BTW.. its very easy to uninstall too.
If you want to clean up the solder.. just heat some desoldering braid over it and it's gone.
I've tinkered with soldering... and if I can do you.. surely you guys can

I used to solder blue leds inside my cell phone back in the day...

I'm glad it's working for you, but those sure as hell are cold solder joints! (bad thing). And looks like you came close to losing that C2 capacitor...

plexo's quicksolder, although it looks ugly, is a better (more reliable) job.

I still advise against quicksolder on the Wiikey for now... unless you want to do the tiny wire job like plexo (and myself).

how do you remove wires? just by clipping them?

when i quicksoldered it? ya just clip em with wire cutters

Perplexer, thanks for that lol, if anyone is wondering what a cold joint can do, it means it is not fully "soldered" onto the copper pad the wiikey and the pads on the wii dvd drive, didnt really wanna say anything but lenselijer's install looks abit like what ya see in high school with people making "the biggest solder ball" then throwing them at eachother loll, im sure with his install you could pick off the solder with your nails...

also thats not my own console's wiikey, thats just a customers lol i dont like quicksolder, its for retards whole cant solder with wires

edit:

hmmm look at his wii's, the chip number isnt sandblasted off...

weird maybe another fake???

I'm glad that I'm getting proffesional help. It costs me an additional 20 euro, but i rather pay 20 euro for a solderjob than 250 euro for a new Wii!

that's exactly what I plan to do... I found a website that guarantees the result of the installation for 3 months.
The only bad thing is that I have to send my console away for 10-12 days at least :/
