Hacking A bit out of the loop. What should I be using for 9.2 CFW right now?

So, I've been using rxTools for some time now, through MSET, and it works well enough. However, I'm interested in autoboot but have multiple questions about it.

Is there a better alternative CFW?
Can you keep a custom theme with homemenu hacks?
Can you use it on linked nands?

Finally, is rxTools still just nightlies or is 3.0 out yet?

I believe you can't set up autoboot with linked nands because it causes a weird boot loop (at least it happened to me while setting up mine), but you could try it. Worst thing that could happen is that you have to unlink your nands, which really isn't that big of a deal.

1. no . . . but if rxtools alone is not enough look into NTR 3.0 its a cfw that you can run on top of your existing cfw to add more features
2. yes always have been able to in emunand as of themehax2.0(homemenuhax2.0) theme support is available in sysnand as well
3. no . . . still no
4. still in nightlies and likely will be for a long time as its now handled by a larger team then in the past and with more people working on it in different times (time zones and such) its hard for the devs to feel a build is complete as new work is added all the time

Ah, bugger. Will probably just stick to the MSET then. Thanks guys.

Can I ask why you don't just unlink your SysNAND and EmuNAND and then apply the auto boot to your EmuNAND? The end result is absolutely worth it, and you don't lose anything (you do have to reinstall the file to play gba VC titles and install your GBA VC and DSiware titles on both the SysNAND and EmuNAND. But that's really not a big deal. Plus, if you unlink them, you could update your EmuNAND to FW 9.4 or 9.5 and get yourself Amiibo support and the ten themes shuffle option.

this and then some
furthermore updating emunand while nands are linked is risky as it might update sysnand as well, and if you are on a o3ds you can then update emunand all the way to 10.2 btw
also there are bugs associated with linked nands like the "gift wrap bug" (when cia games re-wrap themselves)

I'm on an old 3DS, so emunand is already latest. From what I read it's quite a pain in the ass, but this doesn't seem to be the case by the way you're saying it. CIA unwrap bug is honestly my biggest issue. I have to dump and inject my title.db into my sysnand everytime I install anything to make it stop.

or you can unlink nands and the problem will be cured as well as giving you access to menuhax the most convenient cfw boot method there is on 3ds

i just for the life of me cant see why not the only drawback you will get is having to take more time to install gba and dsiware games in order to play them from emunand this quote explains it
DSi games can be ran through sysNand, and reportedly emuNand as well. Install to sysNand to play them in sysNand; install to emuNand AND sysNand if you want to play them in emuNand. DSi cias must be installed to NAND destination (if using FBI).

GBA games can be ran through emunand, or sysnand. They still have to be installed to both emunand and sysnand if your nands are unlinked! GBA games should be installed to SD (if using FBI).
Personally I just install them to Sysnand and play them from there.

I'd like to use menuhax, but if I unlink my nands, won't I lose any and all "licenses" I have on my current emunand?

Kind of. You can't have it so that you don't have to hold buttons down, but if you set it so that you have to hold down a button/button-combo, it should work.

You should just unlink your NANDs, I was really hesitant about it, but it only takes like half an hour and after that you're sorted for life. It just makes everything so much easier, especially with autoboot so you never even see SYSNAND and theres virtually no difference.

1. Cakes CFW if you don't need all the fancy rxTools options, but you can aswell keep rxTools, not much difference if you want to run games
2. Yes, but don't ask, i know it can
3. Yes (i have linked NAND's for a reason)
4. There still nightlies, but work great on O3DS (XL) (don't have N3Ds XL with exploitable FW)

How'd you go about using it on a linked NAND? I also want to keep mine linked as I have quite a few legit eShop games from years back I'd like to keep working on my CFW.
