Hi all, having problems with both 3DS's actually, my new and old 3DS.
My new 3DS is fully legit and old 3DS has emunand.
I only noticed problems on them since badge arcade actually, which I downloaded on my new 3DS and I noticed the download was being very bad on it. Hooks were dropping blocks for a while but then just stopped carrying blocks and nothing would happen and I would be forced to hold the power button to turn it off.
Anyway I eventually got it downloaded and found just when I finished my first free plays, nothing would happen at the end. Just loading or saving forever again, forcing me to hold the power button down as it would just say that forever.

Now however, I'm noticing it can freeze sometimes just in gameplay, freeze just when booting a game, freeze when going to home menu and closing the game or when pressing the power button to bring up the switch off screen.

Since then I even noticed old 3DS is having problems similar to that. I did attempt to try downloading badge arcade on that once, but had the same problem so just gave up. It feels like force powering off when it's "failing to download" has broke something, but not even sure there, wondered if it would be Internet but that shouldn't affect things like just going to home screen.

Really no idea how to even try to fix it. Tried formatting SDs and emunand in my O3DS, but doesn't really seem to have fixed it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was looking into formatting system memory, but I'm not sure if that will delete my licenses to keep my eshop games. That and I would have to back up my SD anyway to keep my saves at least, so would formatting system memory really help much?

what class & brand is your SD?

On my new 3DS it's a samsung evo 32GB. For my O3DS, it's a Kingston 16GB class 10.

I also just did a h2testw on both of them in case they were fake, but it seemed they were both fine.

what app did you use to format the sd's?

I just used Windows 10 to format them. I also did a full format for both. 32kb clusters for 32GB card, 16kb clusters for 16GB card

On my n3DS, I'm noticing a guaranteed way to pretty much freeze the system is to boot up Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (On game card), go to title screen, then press home, it'll freeze there. The close options won't show up. I notice the home menu music still plays, but nothing else works.

This immensly annoys me on my n3DS as I know it's fully legit and it seems it's been fine before the latest update and badge arcade came.

Can anyone help me with formatting system memory?
I may want to give that a try. I just don't know how it will affect my eshop purchases and saves.
That and whether I should back up my SD and put it back afterwards or not, of even if I can.

The go-to app for SD formatting is Panasonic SD formatter: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

That said, I don't think it should make that much of a difference over Windows'. Have you tried using a different MicroSD card entirely?

I don't know if the system format wipes your purchases or not. Aren't they tiedto your Nintendo Network account or does Nintendo still not do that yet?

Purchases are tied to your NNID, yeah.
If you do a system format, you -should- be able to re-link your NNID to your system afterwards. At least, that's how it went for me with my XL. I made an NNID on my emunand and linked it to it, and later on, I did a system format. I was able to go back to NNID settings and just log into that NNID and it linked it back to my 3DS.

If it won't, though, you could probably contact Nintendo's customer support to get NNID issues sorted out.

I was actually originally using the 16GB mSD in my new 3DS, but changed it with my O3DS for it's 32GB mSD, (In a SD adapter of course).
As I said, I remember them working fine previously, as I was playing Triforce Heroes on the O3DS for a while after launch, and I was playing the picross games on my n3DS.
It just seems to me the last thing I did on them was update the n3DS/emunand, and try downloading badge arcade on both where downloads kept failing.

I think my issue may actually be similar to this:
http://www.nintendolife.com/forums/3ds/update_freezing

So maybe it is online orientated... I have no idea how internet can interfere with offline games and OS though.
Tried changing a bunch of settings on router and 3DS, but still seems to be the same problems. Changed to channel 11 from 13, turned off WPS, changed MTU to 1492 (Which seems to be the max according to cmd on windows adding 28), turned off firewall. Seems to be the same story though so far. Thats if it is internet related. I'll have to investigate trying to cause freezes when online and offline. Atm I'm leaving an eshop download going (Where no blocks are being carried by hooks), to see if it will actually result in an error message which could help a little at least, but I doubt it.
