cool!
I have a 3.18 PS Vita running TN-V10 with Patapon 2 and a bunch of custom bubbles (using Crystal Defenders as base) but I haven't set up Rejuvenate yet.
Can you briefly explain to me how this Rejuvenate thing works? Is this a hack I can "run" directly from my Vita? I read in some places that you need a PC (or now a Mobile app) to "activate" your hack daily or something like this, but I'm still lost with the whole idea of this hack.

Thx!

uh is there any more recent news than 13 months ago about vita hacking? Because having a "proof of concept" while exciting is likely not the kind of thing meant for casual use. (As in I doubt it's finished or meant to be used as if it were in a finished state.)

Also I don't suppose Tom Bombadildo plays Dark Souls? My cousin ran into a guy the other week who's username was dildo_faggins so wondering if it's the same person.

The first post of this topic is very much outdated. (Which is especially unfortunate since this is the only sticky in the forum.) However, you don't have to look far to see that there IS more recent stuff out there. I'll give you the short version:

There is a native hack called Rejuvenate, available for firmware versions 3.51 and lower. It requires some hoop-jumping as it relies on PSM Dev for Unity, and from my understanding you need to have an android device or PC in close proximity at all times. There are some emulators which have been ported over, but overall not a lot of user-content for this hack yet.

The ePSP hacks have continued to progress, and ePSP mode is hackable on the latest firmware, 3.55. It requires an exploitable game, and the only one currently known is Mimana Iyar Chronicle. (Available on NA and JP PSN.)

I suggest you check out http://wololo.net/ which is at the forefront of Vita hacking news.

THIS!

Either put away this thread as sticky. Or update this thread as it is very much outdated!

Your wish is my command! Thread and FAQ has been updated. I hope this is what you expected. From what I've seen for the last couple of months there have been a few people that find this thread unnecessary even when it is updated.

General Update December 15th 2015:

First off: I would like to apologize for the lack of updates, I will try to follow the Vita scene more closely from now on.

Now here are the latest relevant updates in the thread:

1. Thread has been updated to account for Rejuvenate. This is a native Vita hack which requires you to be on Firmware 3.51 or lower, it is only used for homebrews at the moment, no backups possible as of yet. It works by using exploits found in the PSM Dev Assistant, more information and how to install here: http://wololo.net/rejuvenate-ps-vita/

2. Qwikrazor has released an exploit for Mimana Iyar Chronicle, though this game can only be found on the US and JP PS Store. With it you can install TN-V11 or ARK-2 custom bubbles. (Thanks to @TehCupcakes for bringing this to my attention)

3. There has been a device announced called the Cobra Black Fin that is used to play Vita backups. There is a catch though: You need to authenticate the backup through an online server. More information about it can be found here: http://cobra-blackfin.com/

According to the guy's twitter, the exploitable game is Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops in JPN and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus everywhere else.

I don't currently have access to my vita (my charger isn't working). If I buy it online via PC and Sony takes the game off the store, will I be able to redownload it later?

You can only download it if Sony puts it back up on the Store, not during the time it's removed. The best thing to do is to download it ASAP.

So, I'm having trouble. I'm at the point in this guide where I need to "Open your notification bubble in LiveArea, then tap on the message showing failed update." I can see the notification bubble, but since I am on PSTV, I cannot "tap" it, and pushing "X" does not do anything. The only thing I can do is push "Δ" to bring up a "Delete All" option in the bottom right, or select the litte ". . ." bubble within the notification bubble and click "Cancel". What do I do?

Try the process again. It takes multiple tries to get it to work.

Really? Well, that's a little encouraging. Do I need to make sure I have a certain version of PSM for Unity? I downloaded the version listed in the guide. Is that one okay to use? Should I pause the update download ASAP, or let the bar fill up a little? Should I instantly close the email app as soon as it tells me it can't display the image?

Let the bar fill up to about 1 MB. Then pause it. For the version of PSM Dev, it depends on your firmware. Unity 1.05 is for >3.15 Vitas, and 1.06 is for >3.30 Vitas.
Also, dude, you HAVE to close the email app every time it displays the error, otherwise it deletes the file it wrote to the directory.

Ah, alright. Thanks a bunch for your clarifications. You've been a huge help in figuring this out. Is there an archive of all the different PSM for Unity versions where I can download 1.5?

Did you check my guide? That has links to the update PKGs (install them using Package Installer)
