Well, I've finally got MAME running games! Only problem is, it wants to display everything horizontally. I mean, EVERYTHING. I haven't found a way to make top-down shooters display in their proper orientation, even when using the rotation feature. It's... slightly annoying!

I don't think the rotation feature is really implemented yet on 3ds.

It's hard to fix when we can't even reproduce it ourselves, that's the thing. It's like trying to snipe a target from a kilometer away, blindfolded, deaf, and shooting over your shoulder backward.
So an update on this, with the newly acquired info (to me at least it was new) on the whole xml to choose app thing, I decided to try and have CatSFC run through the youtube app instead of whatever it defaults to. And voila, the stutter/lag is gone in Super Metroid (my test game)! When I removed the XML, the stutter/lag is back. So with that, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to add a "choose app to run all emulators" option in the settings? Any emu I want to use I'm pretty much going to drop that XML into the folder with it from now on, so it would be cool to not have to copy the xml to every folder... Anyways, if anyone was having the same issue as me, try dropping the xml from Vague Rant into your emu folder and see if it helps!

So running under Youtube instead of the Home Menu (no XML defaults to executing under the Home Menu afaik, since hax 2.x takes over the Home Menu) fixes it? That seems kind of weird. But hey, if it works, go for it.

Is there a way to restore default settings? I fudged around with the audio a bunch and accidentally saved the changes. The mute isn't selected, but now I get no audio.

Yah its strange, but I tried 10 or so games in CatSFC and they are all ok. I was going to try gpsp next, but it seems to be broken? I keep getting the "not enough cycles" error. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Get the gba_bios.bin file and put it inside retroarch/cores/system

Well gPSP isn't stuttering for me either way, but CPS2 stuff did, and now it doesn't with the XML thing.

Just wondering: is anyone else unsuccessful in trying to run MAME on o3DS? I'm not expecting any playable speeds since on I'm on 10.1, but I just wanna know if anyone on o3DS has gotten it running. I did get FBA Full running (fullspeed Pac-Man woot), so I'm guessing MAME itself might be too much for the o3DS even with the XML file?

Is it normal that Retroarch still freezes or create audio-visual bugs when using Sleep Mode? I'm on N3DS, fw 10.1 and hack 2.5. Sleep mode works fine in the homebrew channel and I'm pretty sure I have 2.5 correctly installed as I can enter the eShop through HANS.
Are you on the latest nightly? I've had some of this, but I feel like it's better on more recent versions. I think maybe it was something to do with DSP being added, seems like I had some trouble right around then. I haven't heavily tested it, I was playing a game with CatSFC Plus on and off (that is, going in and out of sleep mode a bunch) all of yesterday with no problems. Then, an NES game with Nestopia crashed in sleep mode, so I don't know.

I'm on yesterday's build... CatSFC seems super-unstable with sleep mode, but then I tried some CPS2 games and sleep mode looked fine. I guess it'll improve as cores get more optimized then.

Hey guys checking to see how the psx emu is running on n3ds via cia. Thx (I'd do it but I work all day)
The quick answer? Not very well at all.
The long answer? Apparently people are getting playable speeds if you are in a position to get kernel access. I can't really vouch for that though, as I don't have it myself in order to test. It's also probably going to vary from game to game.
