In any case, don't get the MacBook Air. It's practically useless now with the renew of the MacBook.
Take the 13" Retina MacBook Pro, it's the best value. And actually, because the storage space is ridiculously small (it's understandable because it's flash btw) on the portable Macs, save some money for a portable hard drive if you want to store photos / movies / music, because you can't change the hard drive ; it's soldered. Like the RAM. So consider that and eventually upgrade it according to your needs.
However, I would highly recommend waiting a few months (probably until february-march 2016), since the new line up is going to be released, with the new Intel CPUs and DDR4. And (if we're really lucky) a real GPU. I have a 2011 13" MacBook Pro right now, and it's practically impossible to do anything besides basic things because of that s*it called Intel HD 3000.
