Hi I'm trying to buy a new computer and was looking at the Macbook however its really expensive. I'm trying to buy the 13 inch one, and was wondering which one can I get(year/air/pro) for the least amount of money and at the same time not to be that old. Whats the best bang for my money?
I myself have always gone for MacBook Pros, simply because they offer the best price to performance in the range, usually a smaller premium in price given the specs, plus if you do need to use Windows for anything there's always Boot Camp. I'd take a look at last years model but MacBooks tend to hold their value well, so you'll only usually get a slight discount on a new one.
In any case, don't get the MacBook Air. It's practically useless now with the renew of the MacBook.
Take the 13" Retina MacBook Pro, it's the best value. And actually, because the storage space is ridiculously small (it's understandable because it's flash btw) on the portable Macs, save some money for a portable hard drive if you want to store photos / movies / music, because you can't change the hard drive ; it's soldered. Like the RAM. So consider that and eventually upgrade it according to your needs.
However, I would highly recommend waiting a few months (probably until february-march 2016), since the new line up is going to be released, with the new Intel CPUs and DDR4. And (if we're really lucky) a real GPU. I have a 2011 13" MacBook Pro right now, and it's practically impossible to do anything besides basic things because of that s*it called Intel HD 3000.

For all those things there is also a nice Windows notebook for it,only cheaper,I work at a ICT company that fixes iPhone/iPad/iMac and iBooks for Apple.the premium look is the eye candy but breaks easly.
Most problems we get are broken keys,screen problems. Most poeple buy Apple only for the brand and style. And the premium look come with a price, no room for real up to date hardware.
A cousin of my wife (he still life at home) get a iBook air (first model i think) for his birthday(!), back then it cost 2400 euro!
For that money I build a nice PC,buy a good notebook,a nice Android smartphone and cheap tablet for les money...
I'd get a neat looking gamerlaptop for the same money of a macbook.
Install OSX on it and yer done.
Apple hardware is just way to overpriced.

From what I understand you really want a Macbook but don't want to spend too much money on it. Did you consider buying a used one?
Other than that, what I can say is "You get what you pay for"... Want Apple? Pay! Apple products are not for everyone, as much as the other fanboys will have you believe.
Btw, I completely disagree with the thing you said about Android getting slow over time. I've had my Moto G for more than a year and it is as fast as when I first bought it. It's all a matter of knowing how to choose your phone. Even iPhones get outdated, my friend has an iPhone 4 and he said that it's been getting slower with each iOS update.
That said, I completely agree with you that Windows get slower with time. But keep in mind that if you never used OS X before, it will be very difficult for you to use it at first. That said, once you learn it, you won't be missing Windows that much, I guess.

Well, those apparent good looks will cost ya. What's your max budget? And as for how old, even a Macbook from 5 years ago can do web browsing and create basic documents.
Well I actually really like the newer Macbook Pro's sleekness compared to the old Macbook Pro's its even smaller than the Air. So I am thinking about that just not sure where I can find the cheapest. Maybe I'll get an Air if I won't find one, cause portability is a huge thing for me but I'm not so sure if its worth it since it has a larger design then the Macbook Pro its just lighter.
I thought Macs were like, known for getting slow over time. Idk I have a friend whose old iMac went absolutely kaput, to the point where it took 15 seconds to open an internet browser. One time my old desktop just failed to boot after years of use, but it never got slower.
I agree with RodrigoDavy, getting a used Macbook is you best choice. You could also use a student discount too but it would not be as cheep.
A student should not have to worry about OS issues coming up during the school period. Unless tofast4u knows what he is doing, a hackintosh is going to give him burden when something goes wrong. Plus hackintoshing a laptop is much more annoying then hackintoshing a desktop.
My Macbook Pro would like to have a word with you.
