How to export/import Gateway Card1 .sav to eShop/3ds/3dz with SaveDataFiler

I found a workaround how to export/import Card1 Savegames (no retail support)

First you know we had the problem of " CTR - BROKEN ", but there is a little trick to it.

!MT-Card USER can do this without Workaround because the save gets loaded on ROM mounting!

To fetch your Cartridge Savegames, you can use this method: NTR Savegame Manager Plugin

We need:

- Red Gateway Card
- The Exploit
- Launcher.dat (tested with 3.0.3 Ultra)
- SaveDataFiler
- The .3ds/.3dz/.cia Game you want to export/import
- A working Savegame (Dumped Savegames from Retail might not work)
- A PC/MAC (any Device capeable to rename Files)

!MAKE ALWAYS BACKUPS FROM YOUR SAVEGAMES!

A. EXPORT .3ds/.3dz to eShop:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Connect the SD Card to your PC
2. Copy your Savegame and save it as 000400000FF40A00.sav
3. Put SD Card back into your 3DS
4. Turn it on and execute Exploit
5. Mount your .3ds/.3dz Game
6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) and highlight CTR Card
7. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame

SaveDataFiler stores in SDCARD:\filer\UserSaveData\20150131010203\0000053f
YEAR-MONTH-DAY-HOUR-MINUTE-SECONDS \ TitleID low

8. Switch to SD and highlight your TitleID
9. Press R+A and then A to import your Savegame
10. Press Home, select the cia game and press two times A to start

B. EXPORT eShop to .3ds/.3dz:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Start your 3DS and execute Exploit
2. Mount your Game
3. Start SaveDataFiler and highlight your TitleID low
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Switch over to SD and highlight TitleID low
6. Press L + A and then A to create 000400000FF40A00.sav (CTR Card is no longer broken!)
7. Turn your 3DS off and connect the SD CARD with your PC
8. Copy 000400000FF40A00.sav to your TitleID (0004000000053F00.sav)
9. Put your SD Card back into your 3DS
10. Turn your 3DS on and execute Exploit
11. Mount your Game and start it

Export Retail Card with CFW and SDF:

Note: As for CFW works only with FW4.5, 6.x encryption will fail.

1. You need CFW and installed SafeDataFiler on a spare SD Card
2. Start your CFW and insert your Cartridge
3. Start SafeDataFiler and highlight CTR Card
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Turn off your 3DS and move the 'filer' folder to your PC
6. Switch over to your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card and add the 'filer' folder from PC
7. Insert your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card into your 3DS
8. Start your 3DS, execute Exploit and start SaveDataFiler
9. Now you can follow A8 for eShop or B5 for .3ds/.3dz

(Be patient with CFW, sometimes it takes 10 tries to get it working)

Thx queno138 : original Post

Info:

"Nintendo 3DS\ID1\ID2\" = eShop , "000400000000XXXXXXX.sav" = Card 1

If your ID1\ID2 does not match after downgrade or formating 3DS,
your Save is LOST if there is no NAND Backup using that ID1\ID2!!!

If you have the NAND Backup matching ID1\ID2,
you can import it as emuNAND with emuNANDTool!

It is impossible to use NAND Backups or encrypted eShop saves
from another 3DS! You need to decrypt the saves first before you
can transfer them!

EXPORT / IMPORT from Original Cartridge is now possible
with Cubic Ninja + PASTA CFW + SaveData Filer!!!

Is it still possible to convert a .sav file to work with cia title without a GW cartridge, i refer to the part of the guide that says to "mount the game" in the rom selector

I am using rxTools emunand and have savedatafiler and the .sav on the root of the card

Thanks in advance

Does this method still work for newer games? I've tried 3 times trying to get my Legend of Legacy gateway save transferred to my CIA version and it's not working at all. It only has the option to start a new game :(

EDIT: Never mind, i also exported the secure value too (but didn't import it) and it magically began working

A little confused which step do I need out of these for myself? I used to have Super Smash Bros on my MT-Card, and recently went over to RxTools and installed Smash as a CIA. Now I want to transfer my old .zav of Super Smash Bros towards RxTools. How do I do that?

seriously... Why it does not work..?!
Dont get it

GW already saves the files with the title ID
For example when i ty to get a dump from mh4u my only chance is the exdata tab
but there i dont get the userX file

but zero chance at all

I made it work, while you need to copy and rename your save file
to 000400000FF40A00.sav to be able to pass the cart broken error,
when you can't import with R+A you can import with A and then undo the rename.
That worked for me.

Good afternoon everyone!
I am new to the forum and I live in Brazil.
I have a question and wish someone would help.
I tape the game Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for Nintendo 3DS and would like to spend the save this ribbon for my GATEWAY but do not know how to do.
Every time I draw the ribbon save is named "user1" and I can put this save the GATEWAY using the Save Filer, but when I open the game Monster Hunter 4 for the Ultimate Gateway (.3ds file) it does not recognize my dave says he is corrupt and start a new game.
I know you have a portion of which is save on the SD card of the 3DS, but could not find.
Would someone help me with this issue ???
I would be grateful, because it does not want to lose my save many hours of play and would like to use the cheat GATEWAY.
I thank pea attention !!!

From what I understood of your post is, you want to export or use the save file you have in the game, MH4U . If you already had imported the save file and went through the whole process of make a folder for the save files and all of that. I am no expert, but I think this game in particular isn't compatible with importing/exporting in general or you need the game in .cia form?

Thanks for answering!
I do not need a file .CIA
I have the original card Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and I have over 100 hours of gameplay. (Do not want to lose those hours played).
And I want to start playing Monster Hunter 4 for the Ultimate Gateway to use cheats (That's now possible with the GATEWAY ULTRA v3.6 PUBLIC BETA)
But not to start the beginning of the game, but using my old SAVE.
I need only pass the ORIGINAL save my card for my game at the gateway (which is in .3ds)
I exported the save of my original card (came as user1) and managed to import using the Save file.
But when I start the game with the GATEWAY the game does not recognize my save and start from the beginning.
I think because this game has also save on the SD card 3DS.
And I could not find this folder containing the save.
Sorry for the English, I'm using the google translator.
I know you have exporting saves following this tutorial below what was mentioned in the first post:

4. Turn it on and run Exploit
5. Mount your .3ds / .3dz Game
6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) And highlight CTR Card
7. Press Y And Then A to export the Savegame

SaveDataFiler stores in SDCARD: \ filer \ UserSaveData \ 20150131010203 \ 0000053f
YEAR-MONTH-DAY-HOUR-MINUTE-SECONDS \ TitleID low

8. Switch to SD and highlight your TitleID
9. Press R + A And Then A to import your Savegame

Ok guys after 4 hours of trying to inject an eshop save to .3ds on MH4U I figured out the problem. It is caused by Gateway's latest firmware (3.6.1), maybe this version has a bug and it is incompatible with savedatafiler's injecting function. Just use 3.6.0 version it worked perfectly! If the author sees it he could post it in the first page so others won't lose their time as much as I did trying to figure this out!

Hi,

I've been trying to export my Stella Glow save but no matter what I do when using savedatafiler it always says " CTR - BROKEN ", I'm using gateway 3.6.2, Im playing Stella Glow as a .3ds file, on the pc I copy and change its .sav file name from 0004000000173700 to 000400000FF40A00, then on the 3ds in Gateway mode I mount the Stella Glow game then start savedatafiler but it still says " CTR - BROKEN ".

Anyone know what could be wrong, or if there is another method I could use?

Hello, I'm trying to import my Bravely Default(cia) save to a Bravely Default Modded ( rom ) but I'm failing at it on N3DS emunand.

...

If I read the tutorial correctly it should create a .sav file on my sd card but it doesn't do so. What i might be doing wrong? Thanks!

I'm having exactly the same problem, I think I've read an insane number of posts and you seem to be the only other person with the same issue. :( I've followed the tutorials to the letter, and tried all sorts of other things like launching the 3dz rom and creating a save, renaming that save to the SDF title id. SDF just never ever updates the save when I import, or creates a new SAV file if I delete all the old ones, but it doesn't give any errors either. :(

Does anyone have any ideas? Could this be an issue with the newer Gateway 3DS firmwares?

TIA for any help.
