I was running CIA which helped... and it may depend on the game of course ;)
Doesn't CIA and 3dsx run at the same speed? Unless the core supports dynarec I don't see it making that much of a difference.
Which games did you try?

First, congratulations for the dev, these emulators are amazing!

I Have a New 3DS. But I can't play Super Mario All-Star with the CATSFC core. In the game, after I chose what game I want to play (like Super Mario Bros 3), I can't control Mario.
Ex: In Mario 3, after start the game, in the map, mario stays stuck and the dpad doesn't respond. Mario Bros 1 is the same, I can't jump or walk.

The Snes9x core works normal, but is more slow

thanks and sorry about my english

O3DS or N3DS? Because savestates works fine globally. :/

Also, don't expect CPS3 any time soon... Not even an Nvidia SHIELD portable can run CPS3 without intense specific speedhacks, or even the Xbox (Proper fullspeed, since it runs at about 50-55 with Frameskip...).
MAYBE after we get Hardware Acceleration, we may see something come from it...
But I can at least hope for MAME ~0.76, I imagine it would run well particularly on N3DS.

Woot, FBA libretro and MAME libretro work perfect in my shield portable.

Any chance we'll see TryQuake?

PrBoom got ported by somebody else so I don't care about that one as much.

agreed. Or Quake II. as the only way to play it STILL requires a slot 2 cart for extra memory. With the way the NDS handheld and flashcarts have evolved I don't see any reason why the 3DS could use the "ram" instead of a SuperCard SD

Would love to see Quake II! Does RetroArch have a Q2 core?

I don't see one, but there's a Quake 2 DS port for slot 2 cards so somebody else might port that. I forget how much ram homebrew has access to on 3ds, and from what I remember that was the major choke point on the DS.

EDIT: Quake 1 definitely has a retroarch core though, so I'm hoping for that.

The 3DS would definitely have enough ram to load Quake 2.
Unrelated below:
I just noticed a lot of games run better in gpSP then mGBA. Like Mystery Dungeon. (But mGBA does run some games faster too. Like Pokemon Firered.) Even on 10.1. (I'm talking about official mGBA not Libretro mGBA.)

Is there a way to turn off the RetroArch Info on the touchscreen? It's kind of unsightly and I'm afraid it will lead to burn-in. A member posted about how their 3DS top screen was burned in from playing emulators. (I think it was an emulator with a border option that caused it.)

Thanks!

Touch the upper right side of the touchscreen.

You won't get burn in on an LCD. But tap the top of the bottom screen.

Does RetroArch need a certain director created or does just the 3ds/ folder do just fine?

also PCSX can run spyro 2 according to a user on youtube...just the speed is a little slow but WHOA. never thought I would see that on any Nintendo handheld

Why wouldn't it? Plus just has Blargg's APU, meaning it has more accurate sound, at the cost of some speed. Regular Cat has higher pitched, inaccurate audio.
