I am having trouble connecting to the e-shop on my N3DS 9.5.0-23E ReiNAND. I apparently have one NNID for SysNAND (which is 9.0.0-20E btw) which connects flawlessly, but in emuNAND I get error code 022-2634. Anyone knowing what is wrong?

Also the Micro SD Management app is having trouble as well. I have downgraded my MSET in sysNAND, is this the root of my problems?

My NANDs are unlinked btw.

This is likely the reason. Try disconnect the NNID from SysNAND, and link it to EmuNAND if you desire it.
As you may know there are two or more folders except for the "Private" inside the "Nintendo 3DS" on your SD card.
Two 32-bytes long names don't equal. So Nintendo would think there is another one tried to connect with someone else's NNID.

Also to note, try to ask this on ReiNAND thread, if you are using it. There would be some more experienced guys offer you a better option when you tried to downgrade MSET.
PS: I don't use ReiNAND. Mine is JPN O3DS 4.1 with Rx.

Hmm, I will look into the NNID thing. Any input on why my Micro SD Management won't work? It connects to the network, but when I try to open the folder at my pc it tells me that it can't access the 3DS... It worked splendidly before I downgraded MSET in sysNAND, though I didn't think that the version would affect micro SD management in emuNAND :/

If you downgraded the MSET to 4.x or 6.x there may not be the management tool.
Also I've seen a poor guy updated the one on sysnand to 9.x and luckily no booting from MSET for him now.
There is FTP application for 3ds, unfortunately i can not get those to work. And FBI can install CIA from network, if you don't know but your network is stable.
As i don't know much about the internals, i can only suggest you to get a good size of card and merely put it out. No SD management.

Hi! I have a problem with rxTools (2.6). I got it working with newest emunand (9.9.0) and I've installed some cias. Some of those games require update, so I created NNID and tried to update them. While Majora's Mask udated perfectly, Super Smash Bros, Retro City Rampage, and MK7 didn't. The updating process for them was pretty fast and my 3DS said it was succesfull (excluding RCR, which has diffrent update window and update speed was suprisingly constant), but.. it wasn't succefull at all. I kepp getting software update message and no Addon data is present in Data Menagement (except Majora's Mask of course). Also I've noticed strange behaviour with Super Smash Bros: after closing it, it takes me to sysNAND. (also suspending it takes about 5 secs.). Have I done something wrong or 9.9.0 isn't fully supported or it's just impossible to update these games or what? Also - I've tried installing Flipnote Studio 3D - can't boot it - "An error has occured. Hold down. the POWER Button to...". Anyone can explain me these issues? I've used "3DS Simple CIA Converter" with xorpads generated in rxTools. It's hard to find/understand these things when you haven't been on the forum for about half a year (well, maybe somebody still remember my thread about broken 3DSXL... - anyway - got it working few days ago.).

EDIT: Also I can't use online features and enable Spotpass etc. in SSB. I click accept in those "Licence Agreement" or whatever dialogs but the game recognizes it as decline.

I just got a New 3DS XL and have a question; can I buy a flashcard for DS games only, that still works with the latest official FW 9.9.0-26E? If so, what is the cheapest card that still works good?

Hi there! I'm planning on getting some 3DS' for Xmas gifts. If I just bought a few new 3DS' off the shelf at a local retail store, is there a cartridge that I can get that's guaranteed to work? I've been out of the loop for a while and I'd appreciate it if someone could catch me up on the state of the "Flashcarts vs Nintendo" situation. Didn't see a sticky that's dedicated to answering this question so I figured I'd be safe asking here.

Thanks!

Hi! I've been also out of the loop and my s****y flashcard is not supported anymore. Now you don't have to use flashcards. Google "rxTools" and "3ds CFW . Generally 3DS can be hacked if FW <=9.2, but only afaik on 4.x FW you can run exploit without Internet connection. IDK what are pros from having a flashcard, but it seems that Sky3ds is the best one now. Also newest FW is supported in emuNAND.

By "new 3DS'" do you mean the actual New 3DS or just a new old 3DS? If you mean the old 3DS, as long as they've never been used, they will be CFW compatible and you do not need a flashcart.

In the case of the New 3DS, there's a pretty good chance they'll be on too high of a firmware version for CFW. A list of serial numbers and what firmwares they're on can be found here. If you plan on getting a CFW compatible New 3DS you'll also need either a copy of Cubic Ninja or a Sky3DS with Cubic Ninja installed on it to run the initial exploit (you can downgrade MSET and use the DS profile exploit to boot CFW after the first time).

You can boot CFW offline on any exploitable firmware version now via downgraded MSET. Use rxTools for the O3DS (use this version of rxTools). Or ReiNAND CFW for the N3DS.

The Sky3DS flashcart works on non exploitable firmware versions; however, Nintendo recently added a new anti-piracy check in their new games that stops the Sky3DS from playing those games. If you only plan on playing previously released games, then a Sky3DS will be fine. If you want to play new games then the Sky3DS will not work.

Gateway is still the better of the two flashcarts, but nearly all of its functions have been replicated in CFW, so it's unnecessary unless you like the rom menu it has.

Me and a friend want to buy N3DSXL's and be able to play 3DS roms and also Japanese roms. What advice could you give us?
What do we need to look for when buying a N3DSXL and/or what flashcard do we need?

Sorry if this has been asked recently but I couldn't find any clear answer.

We used to play lots of games on our DS's in the good old days and we want to relive the fun with the new 3DS's

Edit: Damn I've been a member since December 2006. That's 8,5 years ago :O

If you get a 3DS with 9.2 or previous firmware you can use the Gateway card which is region free or if you have one with 9.2+ you can't use Gateway, you'll have to use Sky3DS and to be able to play games from other regions you'll need a cubic ninja in the cartridge to do the NinjaHax exploit then you'll be able to play games from any region.

9.2 and lesser N3DSXLs are becoming more and more rare. There's a list here with reported serials and firmware versions. If possible, try to get N3DSXLs with confirmed exploitable serial numbers.

If they're exploitable, for CFW you'll need Cubic Ninja or a Sky3DS with Cubic Ninja installed to run the exploit initially. After the first time, you can downgrade MSET and use the DS profile exploit to boot CFW. I'd suggest using ReiNAND CFW for the N3DS. You can use Free Multi Patcher to play out of region games.

If you can't get exploitable N3DSes, Sky3DS is your only option. For region free with Sky3DS, you can install a Cubic Ninja rom on the Sky3DS and use that to boot Ninjhax 2, which will allow you to play out of region games. Note that Nintendo has recently added a new anti-piracy check into their new games which disallows Sky3DS from running them. If you only want to play games that have already been released then a Sky3DS will be fine. If you want to play new games, a Sky3DS will not work.

Hello. I recently went to my local Walmart and viewed a 3DS XL. It stated on the back "Copyright 2012" Could this possibly be a 3DS with 9.2 or lower firmware? Thanks
