Ignore the fact that it's named ootsdhax_installer ... I want to make it (clarification: the save file, not the installer) read the payload off the SD card, but don't really have time to make it work. (It's either that or compressing the payload like ironhax does.)

I can't really provide support for this, and probably won't keep developing this, so please fork it away and keep working on it ...

Additionally: yeah, this is doable with just the save manager, but I figure this streamlines getting ahold of the right payload for your FW (basically by pinching ironhax installer code) and the right save file for your region (prebuilt from smea's oot3dhax fork).

Also additionally: http://gbatemp.net/threads/ironhax-youtubehax-free-homebrew.393975/page-213#post-5646192 (a similar thing as this that I somehow missed) works only for USA 9.9, so I wonder if this only works for 9.9 as well. This definitely works on both USA O3DS and JPN N3DS (both 9.9), though, so can somebody on EUR check this out? Just curious.

Some updates:
Here's a tutorial by someone actually helpful.

The installer seems to work for 9.9 for all regions, but possibly not 9.0-9.2. Getting the latest boot.3dsx may fix some problems.

ninjhax1 support is not really something on the horizon, since it would require recompiling the payload with otherapp support, which is a bit of a pain. Since I'm entirely on 9.9, I'm afraid I also wouldn't be able to test it properly. Hopefully a more competent dev can help people out there.

Nice! Do you think it could somehow work with ninjhax 1.0 on N3DS 9.0E?

I know regionFOUR with otherapp support works, so likely it'd just be a matter of finding ninjhax1 payloads with otherapp support. Then someone could just amend the URL (or read a payload in from the SD card) and recompile the installer to use that path. It's a bit of a pain, though, because I think ninjhax1 won't compile on the latest ctrulib without some fiddling.

If you're on N3DS though, I think ninjhax2 is more advantageous ... ?

Still have yet to hear whether this installer works on EUR and/or <9.9 FW.

I can confirm it works on a European 9.9 N3ds. (Eshop version)

I now have 4 ways of running the homebrew launcher now. Wow.

It's not that hard.

Just run this 3dsx through Ironhax, Ninjhax, Tubehax or OOThax

Can someone post a tutorial on how to access homebrew through ocarina of time?
In short:
  • Follow the instructions here to get homebrew through YouTube.
  • Follow the instructions here to get homebrew through OoT3D.
The installer needs to be launched from the homebrew launcher, so you'll need to be able to access homebrew through something other than OoT first, but luckily we have tubehax (the first set of instructions). Then you need to put the oot3dhax_installer files on your SD card with the other homebrew apps, and run that, making sure that you can select your OoT3D game (insert your gamecard first if you have the physical release) as the target app. (If the install fails, check your files. If your files are okay, you may possibly need to wipe your OoT3D save data. Not delete each file individually—just nuke it from orbit, as it's the only way to be sure.) Then start back up into OoT3D, pick the messed-up save file, press any button once it loads, and you should have homebrew through OoT.

I used my o3ds to install the save to my OoT for my n3ds. While in ReiNAND, it just hangs after the bit about AM modules.
Question: If I were to use it in my n3ds' 9.0 sysNAND, would it be able to install .cia files?

Edit: question is moot as it hangs even in 9.0 sysNAND at the same location.

Hmm. So it sounds like ninjhax2 does start up, but just doesn't start up right ... and you're sure you've got the latest boot.3dsx?

That's pretty much the only thing I can think of. Otherwise you're stuck waiting for a dev that's actually competent at this sort of thing, I'm afraid.

You have no idea how hard I just facepalmed. I just realized that I was just on too much caffeine/adrenaline to even think of putting the boot.3dsx on my internal sd slot. I feel horrible because I just done an "end user" and I'm in college to be an IT person. xD

So I placed the boot.3dsx into the sd card root.

9.5U ReiNAND and 9.0U sysNAND still hangs at the same place. Is it possible that perhaps ninjhax2 isn't compatible with the lower firmwares?
Would your launcher be able to launch Ninjhax 1.1?

At this point I'm guessing it's just something about the OoT3D saves, honestly, since the installer should fetch the right ninjhax2 payload (unless ninjhax2 really doesn't work for 9.0-9.5? that would be surprising, I think). Ninjhax 1.1b would only be possible if you can hunt down a payload.bin for it with otherapp support ... I'd love to know if that exists.

I know that I had to hunt down a different version of the gateway OoT save in order to access the gateway menu way back when. Perhaps, that could be it.

Edit: On a lark, I decided to test it on my o3ds which has everything set up to do tubehax and ironhax. It seems to work perfectly. Odd.

I'm going to copy the boot.3dsx and the entire 3ds folder onto my n3ds' sd card since I know it works. I'll report in with the results.

Edit2: Apparently, there's a difference between the boot.3dsx from the homebrew launcher page and via smea's twitter as I know I got my o3ds boot.3dsx from his twitter and when I booted up OoThax, it worked and I'm staring at the nice homebrew launcher on my n3ds.

NINJHAX1.0 can use CFW and other stuff which NINJHAX2.0 cannot.
