Can I ask anything here? great

My question is, I never installed anything on my SD card, and there's only one folder named DCIM, is this a normal thing? the SD Card works fine and all, but I don't know, i'm new with this stuff.

DCIM means it's been on a device capable of making photo's. nothing wrong. most products with SD-slot make this folder.

I'm really out of touch with current 3DS scene and I didn't follow the CFW development etc. Basically I have 2 old3DS systems but only one GW card. I'm all set with my own 3ds but I obviously can't use one GW card on 2 systems ( second one is my brother's ). I want to install CFW on his one so that he can do all the questionable stuff on his system. I downgraded that 3ds using GW downgrader and it's currently running OFW 4.5. I want to ask what is the best and most safe way to install CFW and allow CIA installation? I believe the rxTools is the best choice but I have no idea how .cia installation works on that etc. Could someone write a quick rundown of steps I should take to mod that 3ds? I'd be very grateful. Please quote my post so that I know someone answered. Thanks in advance!

I found out that I can install rxtools and play backups without a gateway on my 9.2 device, I tried it and it all works. Is there any point of getting a gateway? I have one coming in the mail and considering whether or not to return it. Does the gateway offer any special functionality? Also is there any way to not boot to emunand without using the browser exploit?

Okay, so I lost my GW red card and I had MSET installed on my n3ds. I then installed ReiNAND to allow me access into my emuNAND. But my problem is that I need to install a .cia installer. Is there a way I can do so using only my blue card? The only entrypoints I have on that system are MSET and OoT.

A Gateway will allow you to run 3DS roms in addition to what you already can do. At this point, I'm not sure it offers much over a custom firmware. I haven't had a chance to try mine out yet, so I can't be certain. It is somewhat more useful for a n3DS since those have fewer options available.

I installed a hardmod. Upon booting up the 3DS it shows the blue booterror screen as expected. Connecting it to my computer shows the device on the E:\ drive, but Win32DiskImager doesn't list any device (even when run as administrator), and using dd for windows tells me the drive is not ready.

Any idea what could be the cause of this? How do I proceed from here?

For GW N3DS users, is it still possible to upgrade to 9.5 emunand?

I know we can upgrade to 9.4 emunand with zelda MM ROM, but what about 9.5 ?

Also is there a reason to upgrade to 9.5? Because I would like to stay at 9.2 if there's not big difference.

I was told that the only difference between 9.0 and 9.5 is two CIA's that can be downloaded via 3DNUS. I don't know what who how why or which CIAs, i never bothered because apparently the only difference is a slight change to the home menu.

Quick question.

Is it possible to play online and access the eshop on the latest emunand BUT have the exploitable browser? I mean, it's no big deal running the browser exploit .cia every time I need to inject code, then a quick system update if I want to use online features. If there's a way to skip those steps I'm all ears.

If I were to buy a brand new New 3ds XL off amazon, how likely is it that it will have a firmware version above 9.2.0-20?

Same question but for an old 3ds XL.

I have a question!

So I may or may not get my hands on a 3ds with 4.5 firmware. What would be the first step I need to take to use Gateway to play roms, use themes, etc

And is there anything I should do in order to not screw up and lose my exploitable firmware?

so i have a new3ds on 9.0 with sky3ds ( bought it cuz i thought its better since its easier, i know, huge mistake there).

anyhow i have pasta cfw and so on running on it. Will I be able to play the new roms with cfw or do i have to buy a gateway?

You can find them pretty cheap on eBay if you are willing to ask sellers about the firmware. I'm not sure about retail however.

I tried this...with like ten sellers...like 5 wrote back, none of witch are old...also got one from from cowboom it had 9.7 I was just hoping you guys knew something I didn't...

o3ds xl? I thought that all old 3ds xl come will fw under 9.2 out of box? They aren't manufacturing o3ds xl anymore.

I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to pay retail... and I got one an M&L LE 3ds xl for $110 on 9.2 20u

You could try ebay. That's where I found one. You need to look extremely hard for a good price, though.
