has anyone made a guide on how to upgrade from Gateway omega to Ultra 3.x in order to preserve the ability to use the profile exploit to start gateway on a 4.x system? I need to upgrade but I don't want to use the browser exploit.

n3ds w/ 9.2.0 US while running cubic ninja to scan the gateway code i get the following error:
" Gateway 3ds cubic ninja installer
Installing Exploit
Failed: 00000005 c86044cd"

Any ideas on how to fix?

==edit==

I already had gateway running. my latest change was modifying the language on emunand 9.5 and trying to lunch again gateway via cubic ninja I encountered this issue. Now I cant access my emunand, any help?

==edit2==

I also had configured Pasta CFW, I just tried to access it, (after clicking it under homebrew channel) I get a black screen ... ugh, Ill try to reset my sysnand via factory reset to see if it helps.

==edit3==

Factory Reset complete, issue continues... Ill now try to format the SD completely and reconfigure everything from scratch.

==edit3==

Same issue:

Installing Exploit
Failed: 00000005 c86044cd

SD was already formated and system was already restored from factory settings.

Im on a n3ds 92.0-20U, any ideas?

====edit===Resolved

I resolved (worked around) the issue :)

I used ninjhax to install Pasta CFW. W/ this I installed a Cubic Ninja cia file which allowed me to
boot into the Gateway Menu. All is good now.

Hi all,

I'm trying to update the gateway's firmware to 3.3. I put the new launcher.dat at the root of the sd card and from the gateway menu, I selected boot to gateway mode. According to guides, I should see it asking me to update however I don't see this and instead, it goes straight to the 3ds main menu. In the gateway menu itself, it says 3.3 on top so does anyone know if the update has been complete and I can move onto upgrading emunand to the latest version?

I didn't do the 3.2.2 update if that makes a difference, coming straight from 3.2.1

Thanks a lot!!

Hey guys,

I haven't used my n3ds in a while and I'm wondering what I should do to catch up.

I'm on 9.0.0-20E, on Gateway v3.1.1 and on GW3D 9.5.0-23E. I'm booting my gateway by using the zelda OoT exploit.

What would be the best to do from here to get up-to-date?

I've seen that many custom firmwares have been released, is there anything superior to gateway?

Would be great if you could help me out as there is so much new stuff that I don't know where to start.

Regards

Hey, I currently have a n3ds on 9.2 and using gateway 3.2.2 (not that big of difference from what you have) I also have emunand on 9.5 using the mset exploit (that way I can just go into gateway mode by going into settings-profile w/ out needing to swap out cartridges) I also use pasta cfw w/ cubic ninja.

Currently the best addition of using pasta cfw is that on my sysnand I can install cia files (but only able to launch them by going back into pasta cfw via the homebrew channel) but this allows me to install a eshop spoofer and I can access the eshop. Mainly what I use it for.

Currently in my opinion there is nothing best then gateway and there haven't been any great news on gateway recently for new 3ds so you are sort of right up there with the latest and greatest.

Hello,
Is there a way to use a CIA game update (SSB4 1.8 update for instance) in classic mode? I have a retail EUR SSB4 copy, but I also have a GW on a n3DS so I can't use the eShop to legitimately download the update.
I downloaded the update as a CIA and installed it with DevMen, but as expected I cannot use it on classic mode... Are my only options a CFW like Pasta (either to access eShop or to bypass the signature checks) or to dump my game to play it on my GW, or is there actually a way to use the update CIA on GW's classic mode?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have not tested using the classic mode on gateway yet, but I do have pasta cfw configured as well as my gateway, and there is a nice eshop spoofer wich allows me to access the eshop via pasta cfw on the sysnand and download the updates :)

I eventually pulled the rom from the original cartridge and use it with emunand, that way its easier to install updates and DLC, working like a charm, (and I can also sell my real game ) just modify the header with another game I have on the rom to prevent future issues.

I dont think the demo got the update files, not sure but to be safe just use the full game. Imho, updating via rom is easier as 3dnus sometimes have problems fetching cia files.

I will do so , thanks . But , is 9.5 update needed for anything other than amiibos ? If not then I guess 9.4 is quite nice .

Hey guys, I'm about to get myself a Gateway card, I already have OOT purchased. What will I need to get the save file onto the cart? I'm looking at save managers like Datel and Action replay, I'm not sure which one is viable. And will I be able to backup my previous save, use the OOT exploit, then restore to my own save file?

I've been using Sky3DS on my old 3DS XL (fw 9.5) for a couple of months now due to not being able to run Gateway and just recently bought a N3DS XL that came with fw 9.0 and I have couple of questions about transfering to Gateway

Q: Is there a way to transfer my save files I have on my Sky3DS onto Gateway?

Q: Is it possible to update games via eShop on emunand or should I install the updates in .cia format found on sites like 3dsiso.com?

Q: Is it possible to downgrade to fw 4.5 on N3DS, and what's the benefit in doing that rather than staying on fw 9.0?

There is a multi-patcher program on this site allows you to spoof the eshop without the latest firmware. Thus you can update games via eshop. You cannot downgrade n3ds to 4.5, because no n3ds ever had 4.5 to begin with. Additionally there is no reason to do so. The mset installation can be done on a n3ds with 9.2 and lower.

In order to be able to use the update in Classic Mode, it needs to have a valid signature, which can only be done by Nintendo. So, you will need to use some method of spoofing your System Version to access the eShop and get the update. Dumping your game to put it onto the GW would also work.

Did you ever get your issues resolved? Retail games should work with Gateway emuNand if you boot into Classic Mode, but it sounded like you were still having issues with this? If you're still having any issues, I'd be happy to try to help with them.

I believe Powersaves should work fine, as well as anyone able to run a Gateway. There should be no issue with backing up your current save, installing the exploit save, doing what you need to do, and then restoring your own save. You'll want to install the MSET exploit and BlueCardFix, because otherwise you'll need OoT and the exploit save every time you want to get to emuNand or the Launcher menu.

- I'm not familiar with transferring between Sky3DS and Gateway, as I've never used a Sky3DS, but I would assume it would be possible somehow.
- Installing updates via eShop (by spoofing your System Version to do so) gives you the added benefit of being able to use the updates in Classic Mode, but that's not a large benefit. Other than that, there's not much difference between just installing the CIA version.
- You cannot downgrade a N3DS to 4.x. The main benefit you would have gotten by doing so is using the MSET/NVRAM exploit, which you can get anyway by installing the mset.cia and BlueCardFix.cia files provided by Gateway. This allows you to reach the Launcher through the System Settings > Other Settings > Profile > Nintendo DS Profile option instead of relying on specific games. You will lose access to certain features in sysNand (Super Stable 3D, Wifi File Transfer, and I think Amiibo stuff, maybe others), but if you don't plan on using sysNand for much, it's not a big loss, since you'll still have those features in emuNand.
