Jesus, did you read what laramie posted earlier ? If you update your console to 9.2 in rxmode, you'll just brick it.
Just follow the steps I posted above.

Yeah, No rxTools, and I thought he said he didn't have the GW card yet but he still wanted to update before it came in. OP make sure you view my photographs from earlier. You have to place the files in the directory: rxtools/s&h "something"/ You first run the fbi injection without the files and rxtools will make dummy files with the directory, which then you can go back and replace the files and also place the fbi files on the root of the sd card. This will ensure it works.

Since you currently have a gateway, just make sure it's setup and then launch the exploit. Then simply hold down "B" and go into GW mode, it'll say you're booting into sysnand and press "X". Then use your GW red card to load FBI.3ds and install FBI.CIA to the sysnand. Finally Reboot the GW exploit and install the NVRAM and then power down. Then use the mset ROP I attached earlier and replace the launcher.dat file from gateway with the pasta one, this will launch pasta over the mset instead of GW. Then launch the profile exploit again and hold R+L and it'll boot directly into the sysnand. All done! Just use the FBI.cia to install sysupdater v03 and launch it. It'll update and then you're all good to go. You'll reboot and be one 9.x or whichever firmware you downloaded from 3dsnus.

I have a question I am trying to upgrade from 4.3 to ideally 9.0-9.4 to use pkhex web injection method and I don't have or really know about using gateways and such, but I did see something I thought may work and was hoping someone with a little more knowledge would confirm it. I found this on the site http://3ds.essh.co/ and I was looking at it and I saw some games like lego Jurassic world and to me I read it that a 3ds/2ds would have to update to firmware 9.4 to run that game. so if that's the case would my US 3ds firmware 4.3 update to 9.4 when I put the game in thus making me able to use pk hex web injection method, I apologize for jumping in here I just saw the header of this post and gave it a look and am looking for some help.

First. Never update your 3DS past 9.2.
Then no, it won't work, game updates are not complete, you need to use the mset pasta + sysupdater.

You can just use rxTools to get emunand to 9.8 and still remain on 4.3. No need to update also the web injection should work on 4.3 as well.

Two sentences:

NEVER use sysupdater with Gateway mode or RXtools, them will brick.

ALWAYS use PBT or Pasta CFW (MSET is more easy) to update your sysnand.

Both cases tested by me.

web injection works on 4.3 I thought it would but couldn't really find a concise answer, and i am kinda clueless on all this stuff. That's all Im going for is a 3ds that can run pk hex like I saw people do on youtube they would pull their sd card out do some stuff on the computer then put it in and do some stuff in the 3ds browser and then the changes would take hold on their pokemon games

i made a tutorial on how to use pk hex a few months ago, if that is what you are asking.
i think my gateway will come tomorrow, so i will try your tutorial then laramie and versehell. i tried your tutorial without gateway, laramie, but I couldn't run fbi launcher after i went on the ds exploit. It worked perfectly fine in rxmode. Also, thank you so much for this help you guys.

Do you want to use pkhex with a retail cartridge or with the rom/cia? In the second cas, you don't even need to update your sysnand, you can just use savedatafiler on your emunand.

cartridge, and emunand does not work with pkhex(i think)

As an anecdote, I was successful in updating emuNAND using rxTools in RX-E mode using sysUpdater with the downloaded 9.8 files from 3DNUS.

flare games told me that i can actually use a smash 3ds cartridge and update to 9.2? is that true? i am scared that it will update me to 9.8.

It is, but games updates are not complete, so it won't help you.
