Well if you can afford it you could buy another n3ds and sky3ds and keep the existing n3ds on old firmware. Gateway will surely release something soon - it's getting ridiculous.
If I had that money I wouldn't even complain here I would just buy the games xD

Here's the funny thing about the future, it hasn't happened yet.

As far as I know, most everything will woke fine with a firmware version number spoof, which is why we don't have problems with gateway. If pasta/whatever doesn't want to have those problems, they need to spoof the firmware version number also.

Will Nintendo change how they do that in the future? Do not know, do not really freaking care. I have enough going on in my life that I don't worry or even speculate on problems that do not exist. If there comes a time that matters, then people will do what people always have, find some sort of fix/workaround for it.

We got the ability to play GBA games on our 3DS's via Pasta currently, why don't you enjoy some great GBA games while contemplating on the future? =)
I said right at the start and end of my post that I don't think the question is fully answerable and that I'm aware that this is all speculation. Your tone makes it seem like you're telling me to stop having a temper tantrum (which I'm not) and that I need to just appreciate what I have (which I do). I'm not part of the anti-Gateway circlejerk and am not demanding that they fix the problem immediately. I was more asking if there even was a problem in the first place and clarifying that this will be a hurdle for us in the future.

I'm probably one of the nicest people on the forum but I feel like I need to ask this... Why did you even post then?

At any rate, since it's been brought to our attention that it is a possible problem, it's GOOD to know about it beforehand so that a fix can be built. Wouldn't you agree that it'd be better to fix the problem before it starts? Or should we just wait around for it to happen?

I'm happy with what I have right now. I can play whatever I want at my leisure. I got way more than my money's worth with Gateway and I just hope that they can continue doing the pirate God's work.

The other thing you could do is backup your nand, get a hard mod and buy a sky. Then you could update to the latest firmware and play everything with sky, then when gateway is updated, restore your old firmware and use gateway again. Hard mod is pretty inexpensive but you could wait until you need it to restore the firmware (a bit risky that way though because some nands are very temperamental with writing to them).

If you are happy now, why are you bothering worrying about something that isn't even a problem? And I'm glad you are probably one of the nicest people on this board, but you seem to not understand where I am coming from. Why worry about something that isn't a problem now and most likely won't be a problem in the future? It's like freaking out over an asteroid destroying the earth, when the chances of that happening are slim.

I guess if you want to worry and stress about stuff that hasn't happened then go for it, but take it from someone who has a few years under his belt. It's not even worth it.

Was just wondering if it would be a potential problem in the future, and the responses here indicate that it will be if Gateway doesn't update the n3DS's emuNAND. Which I'm fairly confident that they will and if not, I'll just keep my o3DS.

Ya, I would keep your old 3DS also for complete compatibility, I am keeping my 2DS for that reason also.
