I read somewhere that future releases will require 8M saves, and that the R4 hardware only supports 4M saves. Is that true or pure bs?

Saves are written directly to the file on the SD card, so there should not be any hardware limit for save size on the R4/Simply.

I'm sure that games will be released with 8 megabit (or larger) saves, but most games won't need that much data, so they'll use the smaller cheaper options.

I say we inforce a rule that unless you have over ten posts in the forum, you aren't alowed to type a "?" in you sentnce. That way every other topic we get won't be some first poster who just wants a answer and will never view the site again.

Got this info from the Fatwallet thread which linked me to this forum. And no, I won't make a post and then leave, I visit this place frequently. Lastly, mcbey, you are a dick.

The R4 has no hardware limitation on save size. Even if there is a software limitation, it could easily be bumped up with a simple firmware update. No problem.

what I want to know is could possibly nintendo or a third party developer together with nintendo could ever code something into thier games that can scan or detect flash kits. I know its totally off subject and not even related but I was there when some of the first mod chips came around for the playstation. and I got one only to find out about a half year later when I popped in dino crisis that the mod chip would no longer function as the game could tell I had one and gave me a friendly notice saying my ps1 was modified and could not play the disc. lawl. I sold my ps1 the next day.

I'm Sure the R4 and many of these other DS carts won't have any issues with any of these. THere will be patches for the roms that will be troublesom and firmware updates for the cards to increase effectiveness. Only way nintendo can foil the R4 is by making a new DS. Untill then nintendo can't do anything as they really don't have you update there hardware to play games like sony does with the PSP (which is always patched/cracked a day after the new firmware)
