actually, i played my PSP2 US save data on PSPi, you just need to rename the US save data folder as a JP, then import the save data in-game, i did this on PPSSPP though, dunno about real PSP.

Are you sure...? I have seen tutorials about it involving the use a plugin to decrypt the save data files and other things that now I don't remember... Also, I've seen maaaaany threads (in several places) with ppl asking for such a service, and offering. (I think here in this thread too.)

It seems more complicated than just rename. Could someone confirm this?

If it was as simple as just renaming the English save folder, no one would have problems with save conversions. You do need the save game deemer plugin, a US/EU iso of PSP2, a JP iso of PSP2, and of course Infinity to make the final save and cross over.

Its not an overly complicated process. Just enable the plugin, start regional PSP2, save (it will take longer than usual), start up JP PSP2, save again, start Infinity, and import.

You guys are awesome! I completely forgot about this game. I wish Phantasy Star got exposed in the West again for all to enjoy.

I went ahead and let myself volunteer to be the guinea pig to test this and I can confirm that it does work after testing it on ppsspp v1.0.1 on android. (don't have any screenshots to prove it though because I don't know how to printscreen on a tablet)

Honestly, I don't even know what I did and I'm still dumbfounded on how it works. Normally, if you do this on a real psp, it will only show up as corrupted data on the xmb, but it seems that it's a different case on ppsspp emulator.

Except that it is that simple now. You can use PPSSPP to "convert" your save data simply by renaming your PSP2 US save to NPJH50043 and importing it into Infinity. I learned about it from another person who posted about it in this thread quite a while ago. I'm surprised it took this long for other people to pick up on this method. I have not tested an EU save, but I assume it should also work.

I will explain how to perform this method for those who don't know how to. I will be using a newly created save from the US version of PSP2, as shown below.

TUOhD0V.jpg
Step 1: Rename Your Save Folder
Go to your PPSSPP save folder. Locate the folder ULUS10529 there and rename that folder to NPJH50043, as pictured below. If necessary, copy your save folder to there if you have your save somewhere else, such as on your PSP's memory stick.

Step 2: Import Your Save Into Infinity
Start up Infinity on PPSSPP and select the Import option. After, select the third option, as pictured below.

The game will scan for your PSP2 save and it will ask you to confirm the save import. Select the upper (はい) option to confirm, as pictured below.

Afterwards, the game will create and save your new Infinity data with your imported save.

Step 3: Check
Once you are back at the main menu, select Continue. The game will load up your Infinity save data. Be sure to check if your save data is there. The save I have used to import is pictured below.

You should now be ready to continue your progress in Infinity. However, I am unsure if the Infinity save created from this method will be read by a real PSP. If someone can confirm this, I'd appreciate it.

Well damn then, to think something so simple would actually work! I wonder just how long PPSSPP has had this ability for and no one has realized it? Hopefully anyone interested discovers this.

I got bored last night and decided to make a video of the conversion process using a PSP, though I guess I was beaten and this has no need to exist anymore. For anyone who wants to do it the old fashioned way, well, here you go.

Interesting, it makes everything easier!

Since I updated my CFW to 6.61 some plugins don't work anymore, that's why I was worried about the method using that plugin. In fact, I could even convert my save using both methods to see if there is any difference in size or whatever.

And yeah, I also wonder since WHEN PPSSPP is able to do this. (Or even if it works with other games like God Eater 2, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force series...)

Anyway, I just hope ppl from PSO-World forums are aware of it! (And GameFAQs, and EvolveHQ...)

(PS: Yesterday I was having problems trying to log in GBATemp. Now I see why, cool update. B-))

Are the online servers even still active for this? Love to play Infinity with some friends who I played with alot a few years ago but with Sega downsizing and all who knows if the servers will still be around by the time a translation is done. Never thought I'd see this project get this far and glad you stuck with it. The translated walkthrough was certainly a great tool and asset but extremely happy I might get to play this without it someday.
