Gaming Assassin's Creed Unity - The only game with next-gen graphics

After playing the recently potential-nextgen-graphics games namely GTA V and Witcher 3, I must say that the only game that has impressed me in terms of pushing graphics to the next level has been ACU.

Both Witcher 3 and GTA V focus on adding details and diversity however they still look graphically like their previous versions.

However the lighting, models, faces, etc of ACU is just unmatched. You actually feel like these are resembling actual human models.

I can't say I like ACU because the gameplay and storyline has jumped back to AC1 where you are basically Mentor->Assassinate->Mentor->Assassinate etc

Well as you should know Graphics aren't everything. I mean ACU is boring as hell. I didn't even really like the first one because of that. GTAV is awesome with the improvements made to it and the story. Witcher 3 is by far one of the best games of the year. Easily.

Im with KasaiWolf here. I'm not a fan of 'graphics' in games in order to make up for what is a mediocre experience. AC has been going downhill for years. The Witcher 3 is my Game of the Year at the moment, with beautiful graphics and great gameplay, lots to do, great voice acting etc. I do like the look of where they're going with syndicate - it looks like they're mixing up the formula for that one.

I'm not a fan of GTA V all that much. Most of the online players are douches if i'm honest.

Next gen graphics? I imagine that shit'll be near real life, considering next gen will be in like 7 years.
Nothing so far will be anywhere near next gen graphics, considering we just entered a new gen.
ACU doesn't even have impressive current gen graphics. They're fairly average.

That DX12 demo was impressive as can be. I'm excited to see what happens once that becomes standard.

I guess we cannot really say that it's next gen but at least its above the rest. Everyone seems to improve on the previous graphics but ACU took it to another level with their lighting and models.

Of course I am not saying that it's definitely the model but at least something that can be called a major improvement.

DX12 although it looks amazing, it's probably going to demand too much power early on. Secondly, the level of detail they are offering is only appreciable at a close distance but for a generic scenery, i think more is yet to be seen.

You seem to be the troll. ACU didn't push any boundaries, it doesn't integrate any effects like hairworks and it doesn't impress on the PC either. The Witcher 3 is clearly the most impressive game of this year, hands down.

Yes, DX12 does look impressive, but it probably won't have any supporting games until next year, now that all of this years games have been announced. The latest GPUs cover DX12 so it seems more like an upgrade to DX 11 rather than a whole new system. Oh, and the tech demos are always more impressive than anything seen in game, we're not going to have anything that looks like that 'in game' for years. Pre rendered cutscenes maybe, but not gameplay.

Yes but you see to me next-gen is not putting in the fine details like the tiny pores or your character's face or having his hair alive like rapunzel but rather changing the whole feel of the game.

I think I should give you an example

Witcher 2

Now check the comparison. If It were me, I would say the thing they have added is fine details which looks ultra awesome and impressive. However the overall look makes you understand that it is still an upgrade and not beyond. Kinda reminds me of how the graphics were upgraded from Uncharted 1 all the way to 3.

However lets see the below

Now the following comparison is much more dramatic. If you ask me, AC4 v TW3 is more like less good v much better graphics comparison.
Look at the ACU features compared to TW3
Lighting - Which is more realistic?
Character Models - Even the NPCs look meaty and proportioned.
Colors & Aesthetics - In a way there seems to be more realism and definition to the finer details while TW3 can be impressive only when viewed up close. (maybe bcz the ACU screenie is larger)
Structures - Again, which one seems more realistic and proportioned?

Anyways this thread is an opinion and it's perfectly correct to have your own. Some might (like yourself) consider hairworks to be next gen while ppl like me prefer better models and lighting.

Those are witcher 2 shots fella. I get your points but those are witcher 2 shots, use witcher 3 shots - both PC for a more precise comparison.
