Hacking new R4DS not working

I just got my R4DS. I had previously loaded my microSD card (Kingston 1GB Japan) with the 1.06 firmware, and some game roms.

When I turn on the DS, it only boots up half the time. Sometimes I get a black screen after the health warning, and sometimes I get "LOADING" but then a black screen.

When it does load up, games will only launch about 1/3rd of the time. Sometimes I get a black screen and sometimes I get a white screen. The same roms will work or not work randomly.

Anyone have any ideas?

it might be connection problems. ( your nds slot is not reconising it)

did you change cases ? maybe the PCB inside is off ?

I didn't change the case. The pins look like they are lined up fine.

I can't get it to boot slot-2 either. It just goes to a white screen.

I've just ordered a R4 today and i have a Kingston japan micro SD card aswell, i sure hope this doesn't happen to me

I disassembled the R4DS, blew out all the contacts, and inserted/removed the microSD card a few times. It is now working better. I will load up some more roms to be sure.

It still hangs on a white screen when I try to boot slot-2

Ugh.

Now it is just hanging at "Loading..." when I start the DS.

I have also tried a different microSD card.

Do you hear the click sound when you insert the micro sd on the r4?

Yes, the spring and the "click" seem fine.

I just noticed that sometimes it says "Cannot find SD/TF card" or "SD card error"

This is with 2 different cards.

have you tried lodging a piece of small paper between the flash cart and the DS? I've heard that works.

Yes I have tried sticking paper in the DS slot and the microSD slot on the R4 in hopes that it would cause proper contact.
Still the same thing.

I have got the exact same problem (we are several having this on the r4ds.net board). I bought it from a chinese website, and as I am european, shipping cost for a replacement are juste insane. It sucks!

I'll buy a new one on a european website with a one year warranty. Those R4DS and M3 don't seem to be reliable. I wonder if there are any production tests.

btw are you using the memory card reader supplied with the R4 to transfer data? or are you using your own?

Originally used my own, but also tried theirs.

My R4DS came with the new reader.

Have you tried to reformat your micro sd card and load just the needed files, what firmware are you using. It should boot everytime not sometimes like yours. Had that happen once and a reformat did the trick. Does it not boot after you take the card out then put the card back in or it doesnt boot after you turn it off. If you loaded version 1.05 try to softboot and see. A+B+Y+X+L+R and see if it gets stuck there too, make sure softboot is enabled after you load a game on your ds.

did you try redownloading the 1.06 firmware from their site? (r4ds.net is A LOT faster than r4ds.com)
