Yeah, instead of fixing with a mass replace maybe 1% of the textes we DEFINITELY need to retranslate whole game. Perfect waste of time. Tatsuya route already translated somewhere in Google and could be just revised too.

I am not too familiar with the other changes made to the script of Eternal Punishment. But according to Megami Tensei Wiki on the original PSX version of Innocent Sin:

"Persona 2: Innocent Sin was never initially released in North America or Europe for unknown reasons. It is assumed that it was never released overseas because of the possibility of Tatsuya Suou having a homosexual relationship with fellow party member Jun Kurosu, and the appearance of Adolf Hitler."

Similar changes could have been made on the Eternal Punishment script as well. Hence why it is better to retranslate everything if fans want to experience the original script. You have stated several times that you are not a fan of the Persona series. So why is it up to you to label a possible uncensored translation a waste of time?

CPK was obv repacked, as you can see result on screenshots... This is not like I image-edited that :) It can be easily repacked with the usual tools around, you just missed some important parameters it seems :) So obv we do not need that.
... Okay. Did he play through the entire game to check for hung loads? Did he change files other than that single event file? Did he insert that text in place without changing file sizes?

Because it is really waste of time. Much faster is to just revise existing translation, reading the existing script. As far as I know, the EP PSP version looks (from beginning) exactly the same.

One thing i'm curious about is the japan PSP game, Eternal Punishment, able to import the Innocent Sin save data, for the extras it gives? Or can i just forget about it, in which case i might as well play the official location of EP on the psx again.

P2PT_ALL.cpk after reassembly with same textes have exact same checksum as the non-touched, so I am pretty sure all is okay. Text was not inserted in-place, obv, all pointers and other things were recounted. Possible to put new lines, new pages in dialogues, etc., all is free to customize. There is also some custom LZ compression in some files, like DNGSCN.bin, this was unpacked too. Why do we speak all these tech matters here? :)

I do not see any import of save data. Why you think it should?

I'm also not sure if the additional scenario requires or not the savedata. Prob not, although it 'spoils' the previous game if you haven't played it yet. If you're looking for a translation of that someone on the web is doing it.

I'm very mad atlus didn't manage to stuff this game into a single UMD therefore perpetuating the curse of mismatched locations of persona 2. Don't do tied sequels ever again atlus, you're no good at it.

http://www.vg247.com/2012/05/12/persona-2-innocent-sin-data-can-be-imported-into-eternal-punishment/

maybe its behind the scenes, checking the disk for clear save data of the other game on 'new game'. Or maybe it even works from the load menu :/

Well, if they tell it is there, then seems it is there... In any case, if you worry about problems like Japan EP expects Japan IS save - this could be patched, I believe, we have some hackers aboard. But I believe this is not a priority task, as you still cannot read anything in the game without translation :)

A easy way to start searching for the code would be to search for Innocent Sin game id on the executable.

Hey all. I'm a new user here but I'm volunteering to play test or read/edit the script P2:EP for PSP.

I am a native English speaker, have 3 months of free time coming up, and also own the imported P2: Batsu UMD. I also have a modded PSP on which to play test on.

Please let me know if I can be of help. I'll continue to keep my eye on this forum.

We would go maximally open-source with text, similar to God Eater 2 project. Would create translation repository and anyone with good skills could join. Also, as I already told, we would need extensive testing and players dedicated to that.

Traduko keeps all inside, so this is not an option. Also he does not really have any benefits for us - we do not plan to retranslate whole game (as I told 3 times translation is mostly accurate, it just need a good editor to make it feel in touch with prequel). Better would be collaborate with guys from http://p2px-scenario.tumblr.com, if anyone have a tumblr, maybe you can send them a message, pointing to this thread. Anyway, when an online translation project would be opened, I see no problems of Traduko joining with translation team, it is not like I am against someone or like that.

Also seems would need image editors to fix some textures as GDW told, we do not have them right now. So really, we want a community-based project, rather than some closed retranslation, which could probably die like all the previous attempts.

so, you want an open project, which means once the game is decrypted and tools are created for script insertion and such, all those methods and tools will be available to everyone right? so that if somebody does want to do a complete translation from scratch later on, it'll be possible. if you don't release the tools and decryption methods as they're made then you're doing just another closed project, doing the exact same thing you're saying you don't want to be part of and criticizing Traduko for.
