Sorry if this is a dumb question but I don't know what I did wrong. All I did was go from the 4gb card to a 32gb card for the internal microSD card on my new3DS. I copied and pasted all the files over, and my Smash Bros game is completely gone. No other difference besides me just upgrading the card.

I was under the impression the Gateway 3DS was saving my games to these .SAV files on the internal microSD card but I guess not. What did I do wrong? Thank you!

all games except card2 are saved to the internal sd card. Card2 games are saved on the rom.

card2 games: Pokemon ORASXY, Tomodatchi Life, Animal Crossing

Thanks. Where does the Gateway save them to specifically, and why is my Smash Bros game act like I am starting over from scratch?

The root of the sd card. it will have a really weird name like 00040000000EDF00.sav (this one is super smash bros)

Are you quitting to the home menu after you save/when your done with the game?

Thanks so much man.

I found 00040000000EDF00.sav on the root of the internal microSD card, but for some reason it only works in the old microSD card. When I move it to the new one, it doesn't work.

I have not been going back to the main menu as I usually put the console in sleep mode. Is this a limitation of the Gateway?

You just need to quit the game through the home button when your done when you are completely done playing. Not that big of a deal.

OK cool. Thanks man. I didn't know. It's probably what cost me my saves. This is a Gateway-specific thing right? Reminds me of on the NES when I had to hold reset before turning off Zelda :)

for non card2 games if you dont exit the game and close it (Power button or Home button then X) after playing, if the battery dies then your save file will be revert back to the previous one when you boot up the game regardless how many times you have Saved Game in the current seesion

This seems to be a grey area regarding the Home > X > A method to exit a game.

This is anecdotal evidence here, but 100% true nonetheless, it happened to me just the other week. I exited the game by pressing the power button then turning the console off, and what-do-ya-know, theres my citizens of earth save file exactly where i saved prior to pushing the power button.

Some people say this method doesn't give your 3DS enough time to write the save to the SD, but my O3DS and N3DS have no problem, i can make a low quality 3GP video if anyone does not beleive......
