Hacking Transferring legit cia to new 3ds 9.6

Last week I tried transferring legit CIAs from 9.6 emunand old 3ds to 9.6 sysnand new 3ds. After completing the transfer, on the new 3ds the games were greyed out in download management with a little cross next to them and I was unable to re download them from the eShop.

So here's the plan for today...

I'm going to install the CIAs on my old 3ds to emunand 4.5 and then update the sysnand firmware to 9.6. I'm presuming the games should still be playable on sysnand 9.6 on the old 3ds. Then I'm going to system transfer to my new 3ds. So in other words, I'll be doing a sysnand to sysnand transfer.

I've read quite a few threads on the topic and people have talked about the idea but nobody seems to have attempted it yet. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway I'll keep you guys updated

Okay, installing the CIAs now... Before I update my console I thought I'd ask if anyone has actually attempted this yet?

Not sure. No one wants to update sysnand to 9.6, as many people do not have hardmod.

Emunand to sysnand works. I've done it many times. My question is why/how were you transferring from 9.6 emunand since there is none?

Emunand to sysnand doesn't work with legit CIAs (preinstalled roms downloaded through Devmenu). Emunand 9.6 is available through rxtools.

I did a sys nand to sys nand transfer when 9.5 was the newest update. The only game that transferred was mario 3d land which was preinstalled on my console officially. The legit CIA games were greyed out like everyone elses

Ohhh thanks for that. I guess there isn't any point in me trying then is there (sigh)...

I have a hard mod so no big deal for me apart from the 7 day wait. People can still try using different variables such as with attached nnid. When i transferred there were no nnids on either console.

Did you download the games from the eShop before transferring. I intend to install the games via devmenu then update to 9.6, link mid, delete the games and then re download from the eShop before transferring to the new 3ds. Could you please confirm if you did something similar? Thank you!

Don't do it. It may not work and you will lose a exploitable sysnand.

Was your source system the new 3ds by any chance? I'm thinking of trying it using my Majora's mask new XL currently on 9.0 but I don't mind updating to 9.6 as long as I can keep the legit cia games.

It doesn't matter what your source system is
Before the sysnand to sysnand transffer i tried various options:
Emunand to sysnand without nnid not played any games
Emunand to sysnand with nnid not played any games
Emunand to sysnand without nnid and every game played once
Emunand to sysnand with nnid and every game played once
Emunand to sysnand with nnid and every game played once, then took a clean SD, made a new emunand and linked NNID and redownloaded all games
and today i did a sysnand to sysnand transffer with nnid linked and every game played once, i could redownload them after wiping in data management, but after system transffer the don't show up

It's always the same, greyed out and you can't redownload them.
I know this works, buy a bundle, buy another bundle, system transffer the 1st 3ds with pre-installed game to the new bundle with pre-installed game, buy another bundle with pre-installed game, system transffer 2nd 3ds with your 2 pre-installed games on to the newer 3DS, etc... that works, but you have to buy every bundle with pre-installe dgame ansd always system transffer from 1 to another etc... that way you can get all 16 pre-installe dgames for europe on 1 3ds or N3ds

Katlanie (another user here) has done the same as i did with sysnand to sysnand but no nnid linked, same result, no games on the target (Target was a 2DS)

No! Don't waste an exploitable majoras mask n3ds xl it's one of the rarest haha.

Yeah, i would not waste an exploitable (N)3DS on this, let others try till a way is found (or not)

I don't care, like mb2010 said, I hardmodded 1 3DS XL and my other was already on 9.4, so it wasn't a problem updating that to 9.5 and 9.6 to use as target, the hardest part is the 7 day wait and Nintendo is strickt on it, when i do the transffer @ Monday 7:00PM you can't till system transffer again till next Monday 7:00PM, and i think it's a bit later as it counts from the end of the transffer, so it should be 7:20PM

Haha it's just that I never use gateway anyway. I have retail carts of all my games but I'd love to not have to swap carts everytime I want to alternate between mario games so in a way I'd prefer to have cia games rather than gateway.

All right so I have a choice of two systems. I can either do it on my old Pikachu 3DS XL currently on 4.5 or Majora's mask XL currently on 9.0. What do you guys think? Which one should I update?

Yeah that was my thought to, i have gateway, i only use it to play Japanese games (I don't understand/read/write it) like Rhythem games (no need to know Japanese for that) Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2, Nanatsu No Taizai and a few others
As for my European games, i have bought the ones i want, retail and a few download version (all my Etrain games are downloaded) and about 20+ eshop games + my ambassador games.
It's to much trouble to swap carts and i don't gonna buy the download versions of games i already own as retail cart, so it would be nice if all 16 European pre-installed games could be on 1 3DS full legit, always have something to play on the road without losing a games or when you want to swap, say, damned i forgot them at home.

None, as it's no use at this moment, seems all attempts fail till now.

You know the 4.5 is handy to get xorpads if you want cia files of 3ds files
the 9.0 you could update to 9.2 with 3DSNUS and install the update with CIA files, this way you can install the pre-installed games on it and play them all and don't have to worry if there's a way to transffer them, you will not lose or corrupt your saves.

I have 1 3DS on 9.2, all 16 (Euro) pre-installed games are on it, Gateway was only needed to install them in sysnand, no emunand is needed and no gateway is needed anymore to play all of them on 9.2, you can always update to 9.6 then later and keep the pre-installed games on it and even wipe them and redownload them, you just can't transffer them
