Very confused about this. This seems like an ass-backwards way to install CIA's to sysNAND which is never advisable. Simple way is to copy CIA's to ONE SD card, run exploit, don't format emuNAND, run GW mode, install CIA's, format emuNAND. Then emuNAND will match your sysNAND with the CIA's you installed saving you a lot of time. Still not advisable but having two cards is pretty pointless for this process imo (I do have a second SD for my "legit" emuNAND and primary with my third-party site CIAs).

flashcardtimewarp.cia needs to be installed on sysNAND to work properly

Just want to say thanks for posting this method, I've got 2x32gb's(one for n3ds emunand + one for GW) and a heap of small cards that are useless for GW stuff, it'd probably be a rare occasion I'd want to do something like this again but I was doing something like this the other day and I needed to copy a couple of gigs from sys to emu to put a new game on sys and it took 30 mins of transfering.

Not quite, it lets you install "legit" games/cia's(there aren't many) to sysnand which can be started from a coldboot, no exploit needed after the initial install.
FYI: legit games meaning games dumped from official Nintendo bundles that came with a console and said game pre-installed. I only know of about 10.

yes, tbh for eu consoles at least, clean/legit cia cover like 90% of the top 3DS games, all the pokemon games, pretty much all the mario games, SSB majora's mask Monster hunter 3 & 4.....EU got a pretty good deal for legit cia's to the point suddenly having a EU emunand is desirable for people who rely on the crappy cfw for their rom loading fix to still be able to pirate a good chunk of the top the newer games via Rxtools

Yeah I totally agree, nearly all the games that I'm interested are in that list and coldbooting games is a big deal to me.

I'm glad that someone finally understands the value of doing it the way I listed. I'm actually surprised how many people are not getting why the 2nd SD card just to get into "GW-Sysnand" makes this whole thing easier.

Okay, I did some research and figured out what exactly clean CIAs are, then I came here for clarification. It appears another group of people completed a list of all the clean USA CIAs just recently, so I'm excited to try this method out.

I also did a bit of research on how to install clean CIAs, and this option of installing CIAs seems to be my preferred way of doing it, so I wanted to say thanks to Suthek for showing us another way on how to do this! Your effort for this community is much appreciated. I'm going to pray that I don't need a hard mod when I do this. :)

Edit: I just pulled this off on my N3DS. The instructions were pretty straight forward, so I didn't need a hard mod after all. I tested the CIAs in SysNAND, then I booted into EmuNAND. Everything seems to work perfectly so far. :yaysp:

I did this method on both my N3DS XL and my O3DS XL. worked flawlessly on both.
I don't have a hardmod either but there's always a valid concern when touching the sysnand.

I've seen other tutorials about using a hex editor, to change the emunand partition briefly, and that's also a viable solution but I argue both have the same level of complexity.
Ultimately, if you already have a spare SD card, this method appears to be the easiest way to go. (IMO)

Glad everyone is having fun. Keep on trucking.
