If you update to emunand 9.5 on a regular 3ds xl, would you be able to system transfer emunand to emunand to the new 3ds xl when it comes out?

So basically, even when the New 3DS update comes out, there won't be any eShop access and no games that require 9.5 or higher firmware? Bit annoying but guess that's the reason I have 3 3DS' and not like any games will require 9.5 or higher for a while.

Not likely becuase the N3DS emunand will not be 9.5 and therefor cannot connect to eshop.

True. I don't get why everyone is losing their shit over no 9.5 support on N3DS. You can do everything without it.

I actually laughed my ass off when a member start a thread and misinterpret the GW release notes into saying "there will be no support for 9.5 and up FOREVER". Come on now, stop taking shit out of context.

One thing I wanna say is I think it's fucking awesome that Gateway took only 24 hours to release the fix to the 9.5 issue on 3DSes. That's impressive. And that they were clean with us in saying that they won't be able to do 9.5 support for New 3DS right away. That's upsetting, but at least they aren't trying to get our hopes up. However, it's doubtful that any game coming out in the next few months will require 9.5+ anyway.

But this puts a damper on doing a system transfer to the NEW 3DS from an OG one. For the time being. emuNAND to emuNAND only works if both are completely updated and since Gatway doesn't work on sysNAND 9.5 and emuNAND 9.5 isn't possible on N3DS it seems we're SOL there.

Unless... Quick question to anyone that knows. If you break your system I know you can call Nintendo with your serial number of both systems and have them remotely do the transfer. Do you think that you have to be completely updated for them to do that? Seems like a nifty workaround if possible.

And to think they've taken THIS long to release the goddamned update and now they can't get past the 9.5 EMUnand wall.
If they had just released their shit sooner we could have all updated our emunands to 9.4 and enjoyed all the games available up to this point without worrying about finding .cia updates and other hassles. GW is terrible at releases

I'm finding an issue with one game in particular...

Press Select and load Super Smash Bros from the multirom menu.
Open the ROM menu again but press B, the ROM will be unloaded.
Open the ROM menu again and try to select and load a ROM.

It no longer appears in the cartridge slot, and no more ROMs will be loaded until the console is rebooted or the GW card is removed and re-inserted.

Can someone else please test this? If it doesn't happen, it might just be my card...
I remember I had this on 9.4 EmuNAND with Gateway 3.0.3 not too long ago. The game I loaded and unloaded was Ace Attorney Trilogy. I haven't been able to replicate it since (nor did I particularly try to).

I had this randomly occur to be once on 9.4 emunand (before the 9.5 update was released). I was switching from a couple Pokemon Omega Ruby roms and suddenly it wouldn't show the selected rom in the home menu anymore. Just rebooted and it worked fine after that. Didn't seem to be a recurring issue, I wasn't too concerned about it. :P
This happened to me as well. I found that if I launched another application, like 3ds sound, it would appear right as the app launched. upon closing the app, the GW rom would be there.

Wouldn't work because the transfer is just your licenses, to "complete" the transfer you'd need to go to the eshop and redownload your games. Not being on the current FW you wouldn't be able to do that.

I'm okay with that. The thing is I just want my miiverse to stay with my 3DS. I could care less about the purchases at the moment. It's more like I just want both my 3DS and Wii U to be connected to miiverse and stuff. And I'm pretty sure the only way to do that would be to system transfer right?

Unless the two 3DS's are from a different region, you should be able to just unlink your old 3DS by doing a system format so that it un-registers your old 3DS. After that you can just re-link it with your new console.

Are you sure? I thought I read that wasn't possible and the only way to do it would be to do a system transfer that requires both consoles updated.

Well it's kind of an indirect method really. Basically you just unlink your old 3DS and it gets completely formatted, everything gone and stuff. And from there you can relink your new 3DS with that same Nintendo ID. It only wouldn't work if you tried to link the same ID between two 3DSs. It's like if you were to sell your old 3DS and format it, but then buy a new 3DS later on and relink it with your old ID.

yes you can create the emunand based on the the sysnand and while you can't use the eshop since cia support exist you can still update your games manually and so play them online

oh, so when Monster Hunter is released, and my N3ds is on 9.2 emunand, I can still play it online as long as I got the update installed via cia. The only negative effect would be no Eshop then right?

Basically the only thing you can't do is eShop, yes. Luckily though Nintendo didn't mess with the old 3DS's FIRM keys so .cias will be able to be dumped for quite a while.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
