News: DeSmuME 0.5 released

Nintendo DS emulator

A new version of this emulator, which is one of the best NDS emulator (for Windows & Linux), was released a couple of days ago.
What's new?
  • The code was fully rewritten in C
  • FAT/CompactFlash emulation
  • Sound is now supported
  • Save states
  • and much more...
A lot of games are now fully working (with sound!) including Phoenix Wright from which these two pictures are taken:

Hmm, the downloadable PokéPark Mini-Game still won't work on any emulator.
Background missing and game freezes here. On real hardware it works (even without a download station nearby).

That's pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I think this will bring about the emu kiddies wanting to play their Pokemon DS on their computers...

I will continue to play the games on their actual hardware, but this will be great for testing. Impressive!

I thought the idea of a ds emulator was since long forgotten and it seemed like everyone had lost interest about it...this will prolly make the ds-emulator a lot more popular again

Edit: well i tried it out (phoenix wright), sound and everything works but...the touch screen (the lower part) is a bit weird...i can't see really what i'm pushing etc. Do you have to change some of the settings or is this just normal and the emulator can't really play the game a 100% yet?

It's normal because I think Ds touchscreen algorithm is so complicated to know how it really work. I don't know the fun on playing Ds games on a pc, the coolest thing of the ds is the hardware, but yeah nice app. for testing purpose.

I've helped a little with this emulator.
It's far from dead. The group of about 3 or 4 programmers (as well as random contributors) have been fiddling with it since yopyop gave it up.
Touchscreen works pretty well Actually.
Real Saves and Save states are implemented. Although it can be buggy in some games.
Also Sound is pretty good.
Pretty much what the biggest programming challenge will be the graphics and there is a person working on it in his spare time but he tends to be picky on his work so it will probably be a while before that is completed.

The lower part is missing graphics.. if you use iDeaS you can compare the missing 3d? graphics to what iDeaS has. iDeaS has some basic 3D support.

I'm sure DeSmuME, though it's the best emulator around still misses lots of features (link play aka download play), multiplay over LAN

or an embedded cheat engine. I'm quite happy to have this app around, mainly for testing purposes to ensure we load quality content into our sweet cards.
super! now we can post screen shot rom
DS roms Screenshots have been around for ages , at least on NDSLister.

How well does Phoenix play on that emulator?

If you want to play this then try no$gba because you can play it like a real ds expect no save is emulated yet.

Not really, no$gba team is able to do this because I test it and it's great emulator and the desmume will be able to do this in the near future. Just give them more time.

The problem with Phoenix Wright is that the menu options on the touch screen use a graphics mode which isn't emulated yet.

well it dosent loads anything for me!!!! Piece of $hnikies!!!

Now that really is the way to thank the programmers (me included) for their hard work.
If it doesn't work for you too bad we aren't going to offer any help to someone who doesn't respect the work we put in.
