you can also do your own rom decryption/xorpad generation on 4.x after downgrading.

just backup your nand and you can restore it later if you don't want to be on 4.x any longer after downgrading.

the ds only needed a r4 because there is no way to connect a standard memory like a sd card\memory stick or usb stick.. its possible to explot it via download play but its not praticall...

flashcarts only exist so someone can make money... if there was interest on the device we could run cfw\homebrew\roms easily like we do on other consoles... smea was just one guy, probably a young one with knowledge and free time and he enabled homebrew on the damn thing...

what makes you think that flashcarts will still be a thing in some years from now?

Unless someone finds a way to hack SDXC/exFAT support into the 3DS's slot, cards like Gateway still will have a valuable reason to exist.

I'll stick to my 4.5 firmware.
Might not even grab the Gateway update at all, since I don't play Smash Bros online anymore, I''ll stick with Emunand 8.X.something

What I am wondering is what the benefits are for this feature: – faster write speeds??
Is that just beneficial for the games that save in the rom itself (e.g. Pokemans)?

but wait.. if i plan to back up my cart saves to use on my backed up emunand.....do i even need to back them up!? lol as long as i can play retail carts on emunand mode i can just play on my carts.

so i guess i should downgrade.

gateway came in the mail today! ok i really ant to downgrade my sysnamd, i cant launch gateway everywhere. especially seeing how gateway mode is not consistent. hitting settings kicks you out of gateway.

so what i will i will do is backup one of my retail carts savedata that i dont care much about and downgrade. Dont put the cart in the downgraded sysnand, when i boot into my updated EMUnand put the cart in and boot it and see what happens.

and i do have me real sysnand 9.2 backed up and locked up tight and uploaded so i can go back.

Yeah..get used to that. 4.5 sysNAND is no different. If you're on emuNAND, you'll go back to sysNAND after hitting exit. Not a major issue since who even uses settings regularly? You configure it once and it's done until you have to update emuNAND.

ok so i checked and its still not so good, i downgraded and launched emunand and put mario sticker sticker star and no problem save is ok. then i put pokemon omega ruby and i get a prompt that data is corrupt 0__0 (Not gone, after restoring back to 9.2 it restored save.)

can this have something to do with making my retail saves work?

damn im torn between such hard decisions! i could use some help...
downgrade:load gateway mode effortlessly and fast/loose all my 90%retail saves
stay on 9.2:saves are ok/ needs internet to load up gateway(the android offline method cant work for me)
