I hope sega/atlus. sega is one of my favorite publisher now because they are very flexible. I mean, who expected they release valkyria chronicles in PC?

They are also known to not localize most games outside of Sonic. I think Sony had to beg (throw money at) them to release Yakuza 5 outside of Japan.

I disagree. Sega of America suck as a publisher in the west.
They promised a western release of PSO2 for 2 years and still no sight of it. Having a competent MMO would really help the Vita. Besides the game is filled with Sega ads. It is literally free advertising.
Sega is really the last Japanese Publisher I would like to get licenses for text heavy games.

which brings us to the question, whatever in the world lead them to make this ps4 exclusive (considering this could pretty much run on any console of the last 3 generations)? or keep it in japan instead of going straight for international markets?

Iunno mang Sega announced we'd be getting Persona 5
:smug:

But yeah, they should have went with the PS3 or the Vita on this one. If you're stuck in a situation like this go with an already successful console.

While I agree in the sense that it's interesting they're making it for just one console, the install base of the PS4 is far from small. As is, it's growing quite well monthly with the Xbox One following suite and the Wii U a bit behind that. They'd reach the 150k sales if about 1% or less of PS4 owners bought the game (not sure of the current sales data, but I digress). Still, if you can't expect to make a profit on the best selling console, you really need to prioritise making better selling games.

The Disgaea series has been a favorite for quite a few people and the following is quite fanatical. Still I don't see the series becoming huge on the home consoles. The PSVita on the other hand.. *looks at D3 and D4 Vita versions on my shelf*
You're taking the wrong numbers in consideration.

Disgaea is a niche title outside Japan and the PS4 is bombing there. Looks like the PS4 has got a good run in the west (for the moment) only because early next-gen adopters went for the cheaper console - if you look at the numbers XBOne is actually #1 seller in North America at the moment. I suspect that the scales will soon change towards Microsoft's console now that the price is equal.

It would've probably had more sense developing the title for Vita, which has got way bigger numbers than PS4 in Japan.

Anyway, if they wanted the monies, they should've developed for 3DS. Shame on them for being completely blind in market orientation.

I think ms will get a hit to potential sales this generation, they've released 2 consoles that pretty much had no noteworthy first party. Core gamers who had x360 are either gonna get a pc or ps4, only casuals and fanbois are gonna go for x360. So even if the userbase will be large it won't necessarily have better game sales. After all a girl who buys it for kinect dance game ain't gonna go an buy witcher 3. Ofcourse there'll be some sort of sales of triple A's but i'm guessing ps4 and PC will outnumber them, except for crap like halo or cod.

Personally i went for x360 because i didn't want to put money in desktop, but when i had xbox i regretted the decision hardware didn't get outdated as quickly while it provided way more. As for games i still ended up buying ps3, now xbone is gathering dust and i only brush it off when i want to play a console multiplatform that ain't on pc (gta 5, ac rogue) since x360 controller is way more comfortable.

I've noticed quite a lot of people who wouln't upgrade their pc's and got consoles instead are coming back to pc's, prolly because as i've said hw doesn't lose on it's worth as much as it used to and you don't have to upgrade your hw as often. Even those that don't usually pick ps4 from what i've seen. Xbone might get awesome sales but it'll mostly be from 'wii userbase', and guess what, who do you think ms will be supporting more ? Picky whining triple a gamers or casuals who waste money on crap ?

I wish they'd release the Disgaea series on Android. It doesn't require lightning fast reflexes and would do well with sleep mode and multi tile. A PC port wouldn't be nearly as good since Disgaea is defiantly a portable game.

Hello everybody. My name is Chris King and I work at NISA in the PR/Marketing department.http://imgur.com/6pF7Cjq
It seems there has been a misunderstanding...!
As is very typical of him, Mr. Niikawa’s original statements in Japanese were in jest, which unfortunately doesn't quite come across when taken out of context and in translation.
Mr. Niikawa’s original comment during a live interview with Nico Nico was actually that he might be fired, however, this was somehow turned into the below comment by a Japanese blogger.
「ディスガイア5が計画通り売れなかったら来年業界にいないかも。Bloodborneと丸被りになっちゃったけど両方買って欲しい。」
We asked Mr. Niikawa to clarify and he said that the correct spirit and translation of the comment is, "If Disgaea 5 does not sell as planned, I, as the producer, might need to leave the Japanese gaming industry. (LOL)"
Mr. Niikawa further adds, "This comment was simply self-deprecating humor and in no way did it mean or imply that Nippon Ichi Software as a company is going bankrupt or is in financial difficulties. I was merely trying to use humor in order to get the point across that we are committed to selling 150,000 copies of Disgaea 5.”"

The XB1 is actually cheaper now that they ditched the Kinect as a requirement. You can get a Kinect-less XB1 with Assassin's Creed: Unity (some bundles additionally have Black Flag or another free game) for about $330-50. Unity isn't the best game but regardless the bundle is almost $100 cheaper than a PS4.

Just release it on steam. Strategy JRPGs are few and far between on PC, so with an active userbase of 75 million+, at a reasonable price - 39.99$/€ for example, cheaper than most new games - they could easily sell 150k.

There we go, if MS keeps the price distance, the XBone has a good chance of making a good comeback.
