I've purchased quite a few games from eshop (with actual money).... Will I still be able to play them after I get Gateway set up? Specifically, when I copy Launcher.dat to the SD card, do I just leave the existing files in my SD card alone?

If anyone has an r5sdhc, can they check if they can get re:revelations and metal gear solid to work on theirs? Cause I can get other games to work but those ones are a no go. I deeply apologize for asking again. But please help...........

As of today, are there any differences in functionality between the Gateway 3DS and the MT-Card? I myself ordered a Gateway, but my friend has ordered an MT-Card, and from what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference feature wise.

Hello,

Can you still play legitimate cards and Eshop purchases on a 3DS that you've used the 3DS Gateway exploit on?

So for example if you don't have the gateway 3DS card inside the 3DS and you haven't loaded the software via the profile you can still play a legitimate copy of a game online.
Or would you need a separate 3DS to play legitimate stuff? (I want to know whether online features are still usable for legitimate games).

So as long as you've just switched on your 3DS and haven't ran the Gateway 3DS exploit you can play your legitimate games online?

Yes, I believe so. If you set up EmuNAND, it'll copy over the games to the EmuNAND which you can then play in Classic mode.

Generally speaking, Gateway sets the standards of new features and updates, and usually MT-Card will follow behind with those feature implementations.

I believe MT-card changes ROMs by a hardware button on the card (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), whereas Gateway does so by a built in ROM menu.

I believe MT-Card also allows for cheat codes, but I'm not sure about it. Gateway doesn't allow cheats for sure, though.

I've acquired homebrew on my 3DS via Ninjahax
(I don't have Gateway yet, it's on the way!)
and I was wondering if Playcoinsetter or any homebrew that modifies your Play Coins is currently working with it?

Yes, it most likely will. No one can test it on 9.x yet, naturally, but it should work just fine.

Yes and not sure.

Think your other games had to be run on some 'kinda classic mode or something.

yes. You just need to wait for the 9.x update from gateway to be released, and you'll be golden. Check http://www.gateway-3ds.com/ regularly for updates as to when it will be released. Or you could check back here at GBATEMP.

EDIT: unless you're on 4.x sys menu version... then you can game to your hearts content

Can someone clarify what is the point of using a cia vs just launching it from the Gateway card? From my understanding, when you use the cia to install you can launch it straight from the 3DS's menu, but when using just the Gateway you have to load there and then select it. If this is the case, don't you need a very large SD card in both the gateway and on your 3ds, and there's also a long install time?

It seems kind of pointless to me, so I feel like there's more to it.

I guess it's the same as cartridge vs Digital. Installing straight to the main menu makes choosing games easier and cleaner.

Ah, thanks. I never had an issue choosing games on the DS so I don't expect any on the 3DS.

hey guys, i was wondering..

i have a 3DS with version 7.1.0-16U and an r4i gold.
do i need a DS to i guess "activate" or install the patch on the 3DS? can I do it from the 3DS? or can I even do it at all?

i keep getting the error message.

Hey guys,

Recently i bought a sky3ds and wanted to try backup / restore my pokemon oras save data. However, it doesnt seems to work as everytime i restore to a older data, it still appear to be the latest one.

I do the backup / restore through diskwriter. Anyone know what did i do wrong?

I'm trying to run the blue chip exploit - I inserted Gateway Blue Card but it tells me there is nothing there.
I get the message "There is nothing inserted into the Game Card slot." whereas according to most tutorials I should be seeing Deep Labyrinth.
I followed these steps :
a) Formatted SD card, put launcher.dat in root
b) Formatted micro SD card, put all blue card files in root
c) Put microSD card in Gateway Blue card and ran it
No dice. I originally formatted everything in Windows Explorer with Quick Format (FAT32) but thenI also download Panasonic SD Formatter and did everything in Full Format (Overwrite) just to be sure. Still the same result.
What do I do now? Googled a bit and some people say that I might have a faulty blue card, but it ran the exploit just fine the first time.

The blue cards may not be best quality unfortunately. Some people had them breaking after a use or two
You can either get another 3DS compatible DS mode flashcard (Any that works on 3DS 4.1-4.5 will do) or you can wait until gateway releases 9.x exploit and hope it does not require the DS mode exploit.

Is gateway card necessary physically? or is it in theory possible to be pure software base(cfw) if Gateway wanted to?

it is possible to use cheat with gateway? like inf money or something in pokemon/monhun etc? if not it is possible through save editing?
