Just ordered one, hopefully it'll arrive after exams next week so I'm not tempted to tinker. Though I don't really think the update will be live by then.

Can I safely take a Gateway that was used in one 3DS, and contains CARD2 games with saves made on that 3DS, and use the Gateway in another 3DS? If so, will I be able to do that if one 3DS is 4.x and another is 9.x, or will the keys cause problems?

Although still speculation at this stage, I think emuNAND is a given. For safety reasons if nothing else.

Right now maybe 1-2% of all 3DS owners are potential gateway customers, that number is about to go up to 100%.
That's a lot of newbies about to jump on the gateway bandwagon. Letting users install directly to the sysNAND would be downright irresponsible.

You fuck up your sysNAND and you're looking at bricking your 3DS. In which case a hardware mod and a NAND reflash is your only option for recovery.

The first post is about facts, you can't prevent the replies from veering off into speculation. Well, unless you lock and sticky the thread.

Well, unless you try to do a System Update in DevMenu, you can't install stuff on your Sysnand (And btw every app that was supposed to be installed on CTR NAND never worked with me, they didn't showed on Main Menu and DevMenu crashes the console trying to boot them) every app is installed on SD and only the Ticked and the TMD are installed on the CTR-NAND, installing stuff will not brick your console, it may crash if you try to boot them or Main Menu will refuse to show them

you wasn't asked personally so if you didnt know what was the point in responding? lool it confuses me
Of course it will be nice that he tries to explain it. I was actually hinting him that the question might be a bit too confusing. Anyway, I replied him because I am also replying to another guy's post. I hope that doesn't disturb you.

Edit: And now I saw his clarifying post, did you get my reason of why did I reply him?

Can Pokebank take pokemon from a rom of Pokemon x/y/or/as?
Yes you may use Pokebank to transfer from a Gateway pokemon rom using emunand, if that is what you mean.

So Ive been reading that the Gateway blue card is not supported on 6.x and up. Should I just discard that then, and only keep the red card, or are they able to fix it via a downloadable software update?

why on earth would you discard it? even if it can't be used and the exploit only uses the other one, it can still be used as a DS flashcart. hang on to it until we know how the exploit works, then if you dont need it for it, sell it.

Just popping in to say I ordered my Gateway on the 25th from realhotstuff (same place I got my Supercard DStwo from) and received it in the mail today. I use an FPO address that is like a domestic US address, but I live in Japan. That, and considering it's Christmas shopping (shipping) season, I am very happy with the time it to get to me.

My only question is... is there even an estimated date for the release of the new software? I'm already on 9.2.0-20U so I have to wait to use it. I modded my 3DS just for the fun of it to dump the NAND, but I didn't hear about it or the Gateway until long after I was already updated too far...

It is likely that the new gateway exploit doesn´t rely anymore on the ds mode exploit in order to install it. Considering this, is it feasible that gateway´s multi-rom menu will support ds roms? If this ends up happening then that would mean that we could play both 3ds and ds roms on a single card.

I would like to know this too! Great question!
