I can confirm that my Japanese console came with firmware 8.1J. But I'm pretty sure from users on this site and other sources the AU consoles come with 9.X firmware. I updated my JP console to 9.2J and now I'm waiting on Gateway. Hopefully the American and European consoles launch with 9.0-9.2 firmware so you guys have a chance at running the exploit too.

Hi all ! Im kinda new into gateway thing, i mean i read things about it but not that much because i had a 6.2 XL, now i'm 9.2 and i considering buying a gateway but i'm realy afraid of the updating process,
i mean, they told us that it will be fully compatible with 9.0-9.2, but how do you update the card ? With the PC ? here is the thing, i got my 9.2 and buy a 4.5 ready gateway today,
when the update will be out, how i'm supposed to update with my 9.2 not compatible with 4.5 gateway...
thats the thing im afraid of and keep me away from buying a gateway now, but i would like to buy it now before the price goes up because of the compatibility...

if anyone got an answer, i would apreciate ! :)

Seems strange there are no vids to be honest.
I'm tired of the same old e-mail.

I did get a different, slightly impatient one.
here:

>> > As we explained many times: 4.5 is better, simply because it is perfectly

>> > again we now can support 9.0/9.1/9.2

I didn't bother with a screenshot, I've seen what happens to those people, if people don't wanna believe a post stfu. I'm kinda suprised people still use forums at all sometimes. Sad.

I've got faith in these guys and girls, I'm just eager for my own 3ds instead of borrowing my gf's. I'll go with a 4.5 if i can.
And that's a big if. I live in a country town at least, not much demand here for 3ds's in general so hopefully they've got a 4.x here :/

As I understand it - so don't quote me on this, its purely what I obtained from how its explained - is that the 9.x functionality will be entirely set on the card itself.
You don't get to install a menu onto the device like with 4.x Gateway, but it'll be effectively plug-and-play much like the SKY3DS card.

The main difference that SKY3DS comes with a 10-slot restriction and a button to cycle.
And Gateway - lacking a button - will likely be single-ROM unless they can find a way to cycle using some form of button combination.

The update of the card would (through logical deduction) simply be a matter of adding the required files to the microSD that you put into the Gateway card.

Well I recently emailed the gateway people and asked if this update will be guaranteed or a flop like the previous hints toward 7.x support and here was their response

"Yes, it is guaranteed it will be released, we are just finalizing it.

Unfortunately, we can't me more precise than 'soon' right now. We don't want to
give a date and not respect it.
But we are almost done, the wait won't be long."

I can totally understand. The feeling of the crunch knowing you 'maybe' could do a little better but people are on your back to wrap things up where they are. They're not getting a salary for this, they're getting sales profits and a lot of those profits have already been reaped from the 4.5 owners, so anything more than loading a rom on 9.x is a bonus to us not them. Sort of :S

You trolling me?

Not that I doubt 9.x support is coming, I just dispute it's functionality.

And that does look like a made up response to my post.

I think its safe to say that they'll make a steady profit off of this...
They're not doing goodwill or charity.

Though as you say, people constantly on your back repeating the same question over and over hoping for a different answer? Yea that has to get old quickly.

I know, business is business is business, but this business has been limited since 4.5. That's veeerrry limited. We could have been ditched months ago and how would we have to cry to?
The devs who saw what happened to Geohot?
No way.

I'm shitty too not knowing what to buy and what to do, but I'm thankful for even having that to worry about.

Why'd I even add to this. I re,e,ber newsgroups and usenet, things were different,

That would be correct but the only thing thats missing is how the heck do we update the card without an exploit like before?
