I figure its a long shot but I'm going to ask in this thread. I followed this guide for the Homepass Relay:

Fist, change your MAC
1.open [Device Manager]
2.find your wireless network card under [Network adapters], and double click on it
3.click [Advanced] tab
4.select something like [Network Address] or [Locally Administered Address] in [Property]
section
5.select [Value:] and enter the MAC address you want ([Not Present] is the default)
6.press [OK]

Then, create a hosted network
1.
WIN7: press [Start], enter [cmd] and hit [Enter], right click on [cmd] and select [Run as
asministrator]
WIN8: open [charm bar], press [Search], enter [cmd], right click on [cmd] and select [Run as
asministrator]
2.input [netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=password](change "password"
to any passwork you want)
3.input [netsh wlan start hostednetwork]
(*you can input [netsh wlan stop hostednetwork] to turn off the hostednetwork)
(*you can input [netsh wlan show hostednetwork] to show the configure)
4.go to [Control Panel]=>([Network and Internet]=>)[Network and Sharing Center]
5.you will see [attwifi] there, it will show [Local Area Connetction*##] after [Connections:]
(## could be any number)
6.find the network which is connected to the Internet, click the words after [Connections:]
to open the status
7.click [Properties], click [Sharing] tab, check [Allow other network users to connect
through this computer's Internet connection], and select [Local Area Connetction*##] (the
connection of the hostednetwork[attwifi]) (maybe you don't need to select because you only
have two connections)
8.press [OK]

Finally, change your 3DS network settings
1.open your 3DS, open [System Settings], click [Internet Settings], search [attwifi] and
enter the passwork
2.close [System Settings]
Last step: turn your 3DS into sleep mode (suggest) and wait for streetpass!
(*you can't use nintendo zone app because your are using an AP with encryption)
(*your hosted network will stop automatically whenever you change your MAC)

I got the whole thing workin, I have internet connection on my 3DS. But I'm not getting any Streetpasses or Nintendo Zone connection. Right now I am using the Nintendo World NYC MAC address, and nothing. Any help here?

Use NZ@McD1.

I'm out of the loop here.. what is the whole deal with the NZ@MD1? If I switched to it for streetpasses, would I need to change MACs still or did they get rid of the 8hour rule?

As things stand I am still able to use attwifi without issues, outside of some MACs on my old list are dead. My Windows 7 setup is only restricted by Windows' first octet rule. (usb wifi adapter bridged to my lan connection and realtek usb utility)

This is because since 9.0 attwifi have not Nintendo Zone access flag enabled for attwifi SSID and WebBrowser is not enabled for NZ@McD1.
However I'd recommend set SSID to NZ@McD1, because now for attwifi you're only getting the same linus/router and native US attwifi nintndo hotspo users only. Win NZ@McD1 you can get spotpasses from mor eusers, because Windows users can reach them and because NIntendo are distributing spotpasses between several to all european hotspots. So there is not much csence using attwifi for now, unless you're trying to open all the US map in the MIi Plaza

You can permanently remove nzone by running
Code:
/usr/local/bin/nzone stop
update-rc.d nzone remove
To start/stop it manually you can just run
Code:
/usr/local/bin/nzone start
or
Code:
/usr/local/bin/nzone stop
You have a single wireless adapter and trying to use a homepass while connected by wired connection, right? Is it working fine on Ubuntu 12? I believe there is a way to configure it to use the same wireless connection for Internet access and for a homepass.

i tried this and it didnt work, anyone else have an idea of why? i tried as typed and it kept saying something about
Removing any system startup links for /etc/init.d/nzone ...
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/rcS.d/S99nzone is not a link to ../init.d/nzone or /etc/init.d/nzone

/etc/rcS.d/S99nzone is not a link to ../init.d/nzone; not removing
then i tried to do nzone.ap instead and it said it worked but still nzone starts on boot so i guess it didnt

You have the old script version. To delete nzone from the autostart in your case just run

rm /etc/rcS.d/nzone*

8hrs cooldown still works for any SSID, but with NZ@McD1 you may not change MAC at all and still will have a streetpass every 8 hours. That is because european Nintnendo access points with streetpass relays are spreading streetpass data between relays, like in Streetpass Weekends in the US, and do not check MAC, so you can get streetpass with any MAC.
Using attwifi reqires to switch off wireless security, wich is impossible in Windows with most of the drivers. There is no need to stick with attwifi on Windows anyway because of the first octet limitation in Windows - you can't set official Nintendo Zone access point MACs so it's not use for attwifi at all, while with NZ@McD1 you'e not limited with the secirity.
You can follow "Before you tried anything else" link at the first post of the topic and not worry about any nintendo zone rules changes anymore.

About the Intel wireless driver blocking mac address changing, I discovered that this can be overcome on Linux via macchanger:

changemac.sh
Code:
#!/bin/bash
    (
        if [ "$#" != "1" ]
        then
            echo "mac changer script must be given iface name as argument: $@"
            echo "Using default of wlan0 instead."
            iface="wlan0"
        else
            iface=$1
        fi
        tail=$(($RANDOM%128))
        suffix=$(printf "%02X" $tail)

        service network-manager stop

        # Method 1: (use this if Method 2 fails)
        #ifconfig $iface down
        #macchanger --mac 4E:53:50:4F:4F:$suffix $iface #change to any random MAC address
        #ifconfig $iface up

        # Method 2:
        ifconfig $iface down hw ether 4E:53:50:4F:4F:$suffix up
        macchanger --show $iface
        service network-manager start
        ap-hotspot restart
    ) > ~/Desktop/change-mac.log

I use this with ap-hotspot (attwifi, open) on Ubuntu 14.04 and saw the green light!

/etc/ap-hotspot.conf: (Please ensure ap-hotspot is working normally before using it with macchanger)
Code:
# WiFi Hotspot
interface=wlan0
driver=nl80211
#Access Point
ssid=attwifi
hw_mode=g
# WiFi Channel:
channel=1
macaddr_acl=1
accept_mac_file=/etc/hostapd/accept
auth_algs=1
ignore_broadcast_ssid=0
# wpa=2
# wpa_passphrase=qwerty0987
# wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
# wpa_pairwise=TKIP
# rsn_pairwise=CCMP

Please substitute

ifconfig $iface down
macchanger --mac 4E:53:50:4F:4F:40 $iface
ifconfig $iface up

with
ifconfig $iface down hw ether 4E:53:50:4F:4F:40 up
and try again. If it works I'be able to add thiw workaround in my script too

That seems to work as well (I have updated my post to reflect both methods). Perhaps the linux driver was less restrictive but at least this is now verified to work with 6205N.

In that case you do not need macchanger at all.
Updated my script with service stop/start, you can check now.

Your script is encrypted now? :glare: Anyway it won't work because "iwlwifi WiFi adapter not supported" ;) . I guess either nobody has tried this on Ubuntu, or they have given up on this pos (intel wifi) long before I did

Install script is just a self-extracting TAR/GZIP archieve :)
If you checked "ifconfig hw ether" and it worked for you then I just need some output to make your driver supporte by the script.
I need output for:
Code:
lspci -k
lshw

Yeah, but the old way is better for others to troubleshoot and fix the script at their end.

Anyway:

Code:

The one who is smart enough to debug the script will easily remove first two lines and untar it manually ;)
Please output for:
Code:
wlmod iwlwifi
