So I'm planning to get an 8th gen console soon and I'm torn between two great consoles! Firstly, I have an Xbox 360 and PS3 myself and I have a variety of games for each system.

I'll list some important points as to why I should x console:

Xbox One
- Although I have both consoles, 360 is my primary console.
- I got the Xbox 360 first before eventually getting the PS3.
- I feel that the 360 won the seventh generation, being more 'adaptable' in a sense that 90% multiplatform games looked better on the 360, and thus, I wanna stay loyal to the Xbox franchise by getting an Xbox One.
- Not to mention that I have a very high Gamerscore (for bragging rights), and by getting an Xbox One, I can carry on my so-called 'legacy'.
- When it comes to the online experience, I felt more connected with Xbox Live compared to the PSN. Xbox Live on the 360 is far superior to PS3's offering. (I am aware that PSN has had a drastic overhaul on the PS4)
- Having tried both controllers at Eurogamer Expo last year, I prefer the Xbox One controller greatly to the PS4.
- Have a slight inkling that the 'cloud' is gonna be a real game-changer.

PS4
- "I'm definitely getting a PS4." is what came out of me right after seeing them win E3 last year.
- Speaking of E3, Sony made it crystal clear that they are catering for the gamers.
- Based on my research so far, PS4 is a very convenient system. The one that stands out the most is the ability to use headphones for chat AND audio by plugging it on the controller.
- Already a subscriber of PS+ and offers a lot more games compared to Xbox's Games with Gold. Also, having one subscription that offers games across 3 platforms is a big plus.
- Not really into the whole 'PS4 has better hardware' fiasco but it provides a sense of security. Feels more ready for the future.
- Met new friends recently that game on PS3/4.

Other points:
- I am more interested in upcoming PS4 exclusives such as Uncharted, Kingdom Hearts, No Man's Sky. Gears and Halo do not interest me, although I am very intrigued about Sunset Overdrive, and a big fan of Crackdown and Tomb Raider.
- As for other upcoming games, I'm looking forward to: Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, Dead Island 2, The Division. Reason I mentioned this is whilst I feel that Xbox Live is superior, PSN might just catch up due to its larger install base.

If I remember other points, I will add them. These ones are the ones that are on the top of my head at this time of writing.

Oh, and please no mention of Wii U or PC. Not remotely interested in the Wii U and streaming is one of the biggest selling points for me so a console that can do it out of the box is a big, big plus for me.

Thanks

As someone who has both, I'll make it simple for you.
Ps4.
The multiplatforms run better, it gives you more bang for your buck with PSPLUS, and if you don't like Halo or Gears of War, I don't see why you'd stick with the Xbox One. You'd be better off getting one way down the line if that's your preference, because as of now, damn near multiplats run better on ps4.

If you like Microsoft exclusives, get an XBone. If you like Sony exclusives, get a PS4.

/question

Seeing how you don't like some of Microsoft's biggest exclusives and you're interested in more of the Sony ones, then you might as well get the PS4. Multi-plats do indeed run better on the PS4 so far, and the multiplayer has indeed been greatly improved compared to the PS3.

50/50 but I have met new people who are sort of convincing me to get a PS4 so we can play The Division next year. Also, most of my friends on Xbox are not as active as they used to be.

I guess it's safe to say we have a winner...

Although Sony have won people over with the PS4, it isn't anything we haven't heard before, many, MANY times. They've proven countless times that they have no respect for their customers adn will happily lie to and steal from them. Microsoft can be just as bad. Wait it out and see which console can live more than 8 weeks without major faults, then see it your prepared to pay so much for it still.

Why not a Wii U?

Okay, now that we've got the comedy out of the way, I'd say get a PS4... when the price goes down. There's a few games out right now, but we're still waiting on the heavy hitters (Bloodborne, Uncharted, etc.). I mean, I got mine early because I was able to get a $100 discount, but you might want to wait until Sony drops the price or they come with a bundle for something you really want.

Are you afraid of quality?

I'm still torn I was all for Xbox one from the get go (despite e3 as I knew they would change all that crap) I recently thought ps4 as heard controller has improved and like the look of last of us etc but as I'll only really be playing cod then exclusives don't bother me.

To me it all comes to preference of controller lol ATM I'm leaning towards a ps4 and if I don't like the controller then I'll get a chronus max and use the Xbox one controller on the ps4

I'm seeing a lot of places that sell the PS4 for £299.99 recently and I think that's not a bad price. And it's not even November yet.

I would love a Far Cry 4 bundle but I don't see it happening. That's the game I'm looking forward to the most this year.

I think microsoft still wants to implement the "always needs to be online" feature, that's why nobody is buying the xbone

Sony has more first-party devs and they are better. Often japanese devs support Sony platforms exclusively. PS4 is much more powerful.

If you are not Halo fanboy choice is obvious. (Tomb Raider has ~ 6 months of exclusivity, Sunset Overdrive is not MS IP. Kingdom Hearts, No Man's Sky are not PS4 exclusives though).
