Nobody enjoy the musical references I make, anyone, no. I'll also have another progress update in a few days, nothing special so it'll be short.
Having not played the original game, I'm not sure I'm bothered too much by the machine translations as much as the typos, grammar, and inconsistent application of 'you're' and 'your' and such just from the first few minutes, as well as capitalizations and so on. The game would definitely have benefited from a good proofreading.
This feels like a case where it might be a good idea to have the text dumped somewhere and proofread before re-inserting. Also, having watched Evangelion, sometimes the word choices seems inappropriate for the characters - if you're familiar with Misato Katsuragi, for example, you're probably aware Ritsuko isn't quite as informal as the way she speaks early on. Somehow, I can't picture her going 'Yea'.
It feels very much like an alpha release, and would benefit greatly from having people going over the text and fixing up the grammar and tone... would love to see this with an editor going over both the errors, and whether it's in keeping with the characters' tones translation-wise. I'd volunteer if it were just proofreading text scripts...
How do people normally proofread stuff like this scriptwise with game translations? Do they just get text-dumped and proofread?
