Ah, well that's probably something that can't be done without probably scratching the Wii anyway. My quest for a brand new Wii with GC ports continues...

Dude, I said I have OCD and I'm a collector. This will be to keep forever and white ones always get tarnished just from existing over time - and they're harder to find anyway.

If I could feasibly find a brand new white Wii I would consider getting it.

I've heard of it but I treasure my GC game discs and want to be able to actually use them. I don't want to muck around with a HDD. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I'm interested in this - I got a brand new black Wii with no GC ports, however if it's possible to remove the fascia to reveal ports that still exist, I'd be interested in learning more - have you got any links to further info?

Not at the moment if I remember there was a project that involved restoring GC functionality not sure whats become of it now but my theory is that not only can we restore GC functionality on the older models with the missing ports anything is possible but all we need is to have a way to sign nand files to two different Wii inorder to fully restore GC backwards functionality

I'll throw in another option into this hat & that option is to trade my reg Wii for a spare DSi if you happen to have one :)

You should consider getting a used Wii (white or any other color for that matter) and then get a replacement shell of whatever color you want. I got the clear replacement shell with the LED lights on the inside (that you can set to go from transition through rainbow of colors slow, fast, or stop on individual colors across the spectrum. It looks amazing, better than any official Wii model on the market, and it helps the Wii look far newer than it is (got in 2006, still looks brand new)).

As for "mucking around with an HDD" Nintendont is incredibly easy to setup. Nothing about setting up your HDD is complicated. You could have it up and running on your Wii in a matter of no time. The only part that might take some time would be getting yourself a digital copy of the game you're looking to play, but putting it on the HDD is easy and quick as well.

Only a regular DS and a Zelda edition 3DS XL - not parting with that, LOL!

I already have an old-skool white Wii but it got scratched badly when I moved, and has tarnished yellow. I thought about getting an unofficial case but I haven't seen anything that nice. If you know of a place that sells really nice shells then I may consider it, thanks!

Perfectly understandable I was hoping for a DSi but here's another option re add the Gc ports wait for a program that allows for signing two for two different Wii's & if your Wii's case gets messed up buy a replacement shell for it :)

If it were ever going to be possible to play GC discs on an rvl-101 or Wii U (without some sort of major hardware modding to the drive) you wouldn't need to use an rvl-001 to verify discs for Devolution. It's clearly not something that can be fixed in software or system updates. (Using the word "fixed" lightly, because it's not an error, it's how the rvl-101 and Wii U drives were meant to act).

As it was said above, the attachment will not allow the incompatible Wii's or the Wii U to play Gamecube discs simply because the disc drive is not compatible with mini-discs and finding a disc adapter that works with a slot-loading drive might be quite difficult. Again, this is only for Smash, other compatible games and perhaps in the future Gamecube Virtual Console.

They almost must start selling gamecube virtual console titles. Making adapter and controllers for only one games dedicated fans seems too marginal at least for me as I see people playing brawl with only regular wiimote and having good time.

To reiterate this, can you tell me of a place that does the best shells that you know of?

As I want to keep it for EVER, price is less of a concern than quality - especially if there's a Nintendo logo on it!

...Although sexy lights would go down a treat as well. Also interested in motionplus Wii remote & nunchuck cases.

Nintendo actually promised there will be GC VC before launch. It is almost two years now and there still aren't any news of follow up.

I'm starting to think this will be another unfulfilled promise from Nintendo.

Already been mentioned, but the WiiU doesn't read GC discs, though if Nintendo had left that functionality in for the release of this accessory it'd have been perfect!

You could do it, then refurb your Wii with this Video ;D

In fact if anyone wants to do their own shell custom colors then this can be followed, will not cost alot for it, just some concentration and time hahaha. (If this is classed as spamming then let me know, I'll leave the link rather than the Embed)

Hi, I think that no-one here would have a problem with this creative idea!

Unfortunately I'm extremely cack-handed but have a ridiculous idea of what 'perfection' is. That would be a no-go for me. If someone else with mad skillz offered to customise my Wii though, I would definitely consider it, depending on price.
