Update to my concept. I decided to move away from the blue wavy design and go toward a more light, DSi inspired, and minimal interface. I can't demonstrate this in the concept, but the idea of the top screen is to have the selected app icon and text float above the screen using 3D:

There's no way that we would know that before an update is released, we don't even know when the next update is.
Do you have a reason not to update to 8.1?
Might as well update since there's 0 downside to doing so.
Or buy a cartridge that has the update in it, so you can update whenever you want and any console you want

To be honest I'd go with the more "purple" artwork of soully's. It has a nice indicated 3D to it, and isn't just looking like another clone of the original HBC art. This is a new platform for homebrew - let it have its own look and style.
I made two more.
As you can see there is a 3D cube in the middle with the word Homebrew on it. Home is on the front part of the cube while brew is on the back of it. I think it helps with the 3D aspect of it all. The details also look quite nice.
This other one is an animation.
This one follows the whole 'loading' aspect of the word homebrew loader.

Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS are there. I don't see 3DS or 2DS separate, probably too generic.
Uhh, yeah! XBox emulation has been running on the 3DS forever. You must not check out youtube much.
whenever I read SSSpwn, I always have to think about the anti-hero Spawn (pic in spoiler tags)
would be funny, if someone took that approach and made a design, that has absolutely nothing to do with the words home or brew and instead went really dark and thrilling with it ... OFC NOT using the actual "Spawn" character, because that would a copyright infringement, but mabye something similar or parodic ^^

Very OT for this thread but...
The source would have to be totally reworked for running with the single CPU core, system resources/IO, function calls, etc. and recompiled to run in 3DS mode. Otherwise it would have to be emulated which would be a moot point since homebrew can be run on even $4 junk flash carts.
Oh, ok. I guess thats why they didn't call it "The Nintendo Wii, Wii Family Edition, and Wii Mini Homebrew Channel that also works on the Wii U's vWii channel". That would bring a lot of complants.
