It sure would be nice if people could read the first post before telling us this exists. We're aware of it, it's very incomplete, and, having emailed the blog's owner, is translated by someone who speaks neither English or Japanese natively. As such, the quality is lower than a Google Translate version.

It sure would be nice if people could read the first post before telling us this exists. We're aware of it, it's very incomplete, and, having emailed the blog's owner, is translated by someone who speaks neither English or Japanese natively. As such, the quality is lower than a Google Translate version.

I've got the feeling that even if you would write it in the first post of every page, someone will still post the link again anyway.

Geez... Don`t be so mad... I didn`t read full topic, but there are nothing about posting links in 1st post of this topic. I just want to help. I don`t known how to create translate patch to game, but i don`t really think game with diff story can help you with it (like i write before: if game have new character i don`t really think it gonna have the some story).

We are also aware that there is a blog containing a translated story script. We have however decided not to use it.

About the rest.
The PSVita game contains the original SAO: Infinity Moment from the PSP.
The new character you've mentioned is from the Hollow Fragment arc.
That arc comes after the IM arc.

Not at present, with Hollow Fragment coming out, we feel somewhat ambiguous about translating a game that is being officially translated and released. On the other hand, it is technically a separate game with the same story, so we're talking about it. The deciding factor will probably be the quality of the translation, the screens we have seen from the Asian release are... I'll be generous and say they're merely dreadful. It seems unlikely that they would use the same translation for the US and European releases, but if they do, then we will start translating again. If not, we have discussed porting the Hollow Fragment translation, but that seems both unethical and a lot more illegal.

Sorry if that's a more complicated answer that you're looking for. At the moment, it's on hold, we will make a final decision later, but at the moment we are leaning toward canceling the project.

It'll be a real shame, if not your translation of this game I'll never be able to play it.
since I won't bother to get vita just for this game.
With all the mess for the moment, it's just safer to leave a copyrighted material who's going to be translated here anyway (even if it's as a remake) so yeah for now, it's on hold.

For those who don't get my feelings, you should just read what Kajitani-Eizan did about his own projects.

I don't really see why you wouldn't continue this because the average human isn't gonna go blow a couple hundred dollars on a PS Vita in order to play one game (unless of course it's a super hardcore fan). Plus you've already gotten pretty far in to the project and it would be a complete waste to stop now.

Well, we're all involved in multiple projects, and it will be at least another year of work to finish translating this game. Between that and the increased chance of getting sued at this point, we're having to think long and hard about whether or not it's worth it to us. I get that there are people who still want to play this game who probably won't buy a Vita, and that is a factor in our decision, but for now we're waiting until we know more about the official release.

It seems that the US/PAL releases will be using a second translation, NOT the unaltered English script from the Chinese release.

Not much long ago, we had only Pokémon zero-day translation, and maybe the occasional exception (Dragon Ball Origins, Elebits, Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light, Fire Emblem DS1, Glory of Heracles 4, Nostalgia...) but it never got so bad to the degree of nowadays's situation.

I frankly see it as something endangering the scene as a whole. Hardly anything gets released for the PSP anymore from all of these projects.
It's mind-numbing how little fan-translations is released in the end of the day yet the PSP/DS/PS1 have myriads of still untranslated gems.
Is it a matter of making the wrong choices? Aiming too high?
Wavering between the desire to translate the latest new hot thing and the implications on the profitability it will have later now that an official release is announced?
I can't explain in any other way why the more niche stuff (not weaboo shit, but games with actual pedigree or quality) gets ignored most of the time.

Disclaimer: Me being involved in Ninokuni DS (not to be confused with the different localized PS3 port, even though they share basic plot elements) translation might make me seem like an hypocrite... but! that's the case of a game that was explicitly said by the producers not to be coming over or ported anywhere. The concept was reused for Youkai Watch which was far more profitable for L-5 than NnK ever was. Thus making the 2D version of Ninokuni alongside Time Travelers in terms of port priority. Besides, I don't care think whatever I do at this point will adversely affect them by much.
