Hmm I was thinking, maybe there should be a like free market of buying private headers. Just a thought. The market could be held in some other website, or on ShopTemp.

And sell the same header over and over again? Your idea screams SCAM xD. It's kinda funny though how some people turned thoughts into facts. No one gets banned by using the same header. Or everyone who play's dumped 3ds games online will get banned. It's as simple as that( you dont know, I dont know).
Go at least buy 1 single 3ds game if you really want to feel comfortable cuz if by any chance someone gives you a header they didn't used for themself, who says they wont give the header to someone else in the future or maybe even the next day.

Yes. It's called game stores. You buy the game and dump your own header.

So... to make it simple for all the new arrivals on this thread, the complete method to go online is :
1) Just do a cartridge backup with the Gateway dumper, whatever title OR get a ROM which have be done with a Gateway


So the original cartridge doesn't have to be 4gb or card 2?

Not necessary, only the first hex line (unique ID) from any game header is needed.
The second line, proper to each game, is automatically generated by "Gateway ROM Patcher v0.6" software.

Why not buying a brand-new cheap game (I got one from Amazon for $5), and modify it for every game you want to play with? This way you'll know no one will ever use that header except you.
By the way, why people keep referring to 4gb games? It has been said over and over that size doesn't matter, right? (*insert dirty joke here*).

EDIT: I can't find Gateway rom patcher v0.6 :unsure:

People are talking about 4gb games just because they are the biggest ones. Their header was reported to work on all games, 4gb and all the smaller ones.
To get you own private cart ID, a cheapest way would be to just borrow a single player game from a friend. It will cost you zero and the cartridge ID of the dump will work online too. But this could be dangerous in theory, if ninty know that "this ID" is linked to "this title" only.

I see, thank you for the clarification (and for the link ;)).
And if I'm not mistaken, the biggest games are the 8gb ones (like PES 2011).

nah. you're mixing Gbits and Gb.
the bigger games are 4 Gb = 32 Gbits. Metal Gear, RE revelation, donkey kong etc.

Oh my god a tutorial! :unsure: Its a joke rite??? after 36 pages explaining. Why has the OP not updated the 1st page then there is no point cause this tutorial is out of date anyway with Gateway Rom Patcher v0.2!!! v0.6 GW Rom Patcher does all this for you now, I think the tutorial is a little bit too late for this thread now.

I quote "you can get all from the first post in the err thread, ehmm, ehmm online 2.2 thread" I think he wanted to say GBAtemp thread but thought I best not even though it clearly shows the GBAtemp thread in the background. This is the err, err and the err also what and hmm, tutorial on hex editing your header guys! What a tool, he sounds explaining it all.

After all his hard effort with this tutorial the rom wont work on his Gateway card because he forgot to change it to .3DZ at the end!!! :lol:

i think the latest tools that auto fix the header should put a end to the confusion anyways, hope it doesn't confuse people with it being out of date, afaik nobody will have to do any hexy edits any more

tbh there is too many different names for it, what he is referring to is the uniqueID/header data/cartID

i havent seen anyone refer to it as "Main Title ID" so i assume your talking about something else probably the Title ID of the game which the save name is set too, this is not the same thing thats just the ID of the game which is the same for all copies of the game (except those from other regions)

just read the first post it explains it all
