After looking at Cyan's post, I was looking at the NFO's by BigBlueBox and saw that Senran Kagura Burst has C2 F8 02 90. I haven't seen the third one different than 00 so far so I just wanted to let you guys know.

Is there a way to figure out roms' chip IDs? I know FW version and Size can be determined by looking at scene release list, but how about card number(90 or 98)? Should we just try with each card number? It would be helpful if there's a list.

Wonder if tomodachi life has online features though. Adding miis through online would be great.
I honestly don't know that for certain (I just know that it is a card2 title - useless trivia!). Given the hype how it's being billed like an Animal Crossing/The Sims hybrid, there is a good chance that it has more robust online features than your average title.

It's not the firmware.

The byte at offset 0x1240 is the manufacturer ID.

45 = SanDisk
AE = OKI Semiconductor
C2 = Macronix

1. Manufacturer (0x1240)
45 = SanDisk
AE = OKI Semiconductor
C2 = Macronix

2. Size (0x1241)
7F = 128mb
FF = 256mb
FE = 512mb
FA = 1gb
F8 = 2gb
F0 = 4gb

3. Unknown (0x1242)
00 =
02 =

4. Card Type (0x1243)
90 = card1
98 = card2

For anyone wanting a list of BigBlueBox releases with the chip ids...

Moshi Ms: C2 7F 00 90, EUR, 1024, 4.1.0
The Whitakers: C2 7F 00 90, EUR, 1024, 2.1.0
Pacman TGA: C2 FF 00 90, EUR, 2048, 5.1.0
Horrid Henry: C2 FF 00 90, EUR, 2048, 2.1.0
Doodle Jump: C2 7F 00 90, EUR, 1024, 5.1.0
Cut the rope: C2 FF 00 90, USA, 2048, 6.2.0
Prof Layton TAL: C2 FA 02 90, USA, 8192, 6.2.0
Senran Kagura: C2 F8 02 90, JA, 16384, 4.4.0
Tongari Boushi: C2 FF 00 90, JA, 2048, 4.4.0
Sudoku to 3-Tsu: C2 FF 00 90, JA, 2048, 1.0.0
Magi: Aratanaru: C2 FA 02 90, JA, 8192, 6.2.0
FIFA 14: C2 F8 02 90, USA, 16384, 5.1.0
Maplestory: C2 FE 00 90, KO, 4096, 4.4.0
Bravely Default: C2 F0 02 90, USA, 32768, 6.2.0

Well, now we know the firmware has nothing to do with the chip id... but the size does!

I am not sure on why all releases begin with "C2", all from different regions: USA, EUR, JA, KO

Guess all these carts are using Macronixs then.

from the carts i dumped, the value "00" was more often seen in older games and "02" in more recent ones. But it's not a huge help.
Into the Kirin nfos you can also see the chip id and save type values if interested.

EDIT : new version of the patcher is out : http://tinyurl.com/GRPv03
google chrome disliked the dl link.. try with another browser it worked for me.

Has anybody got a list of games that are 4GB? Thinking of buying for my personal header

You don't need 4gb as long as it is modified correctly. Just buy the cheapest one. I picked up the factory sealed game at 99 cents from ebay. If you still want to know the sizes of games, check the scene release page and sort it in order of game size.
