FIX94 would it be possible to modify the code for the cache read so that lines starting with # or // are skipped in the txt? That way we could add a small description of what files are being cached. That would help others to know where to expect improvements in speed.

I was thinking about something like that too :P

r40 ustealth (compiled myself with patched libfat) + WiiU PAL
Tried Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Mario Kart (all PAL games), everything works great with dualshock 3 controller. Return to loader/system menu too

BTW, Luigi's Mansion (PAL) works really great only the first time you launch it.
I was able to play it, I saved my game...then everytime I try to launch it, it crashes (black screen and Dualshock 3 does not synch > hard reset needed)

This already happened with older revisions (don't know since when), and I had the same problem on my Wii (PAL too)

Then, instead of posting again and again to say the same. Get another HDD or try an SD and test to be sure where the problem is.

Not much response to my previous U-stealth enabled build :(
Well, here's my personal builds of r35. I still have no idea if it works as I am not at home to be able to try them out, and too few of you tell me if they are working or not.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b8ttxaedj2t34jo/nintendont_r35.zip
Please, if you download and try it out report here if it is working or not so I know if I should continue to supply builds in the future or not.
Also a "thank you" would be nice ;)
Thanks for this, works great.

Version 1.42 is already online, and revert changes of 1.40

yeah I just seen it, but couldn't understand why v1.40 would work with my 2gb usb flash drive and not my 4gb sdhc card both formatted the same way fat with 64k cluster size (not fat32) but both would work with file caching

just wanted to report a problem i've been experiencing. i am on a wii using two gamecube controllers. i've been playing melee on r79 for a bit and it worked great for the most part. i decided to check up on nintendont again and saw a lot of things updated like a new repository, updated first post, etc (thanks for all that). so i decided to give the update a try. i loaded 1.35 on an sd card along with an image for melee, so everything is on the sd card. we found out that only full presses on the shoulder buttons work and that the analog non-full-press shoulder buttons of controllers 2, 3, and 4 are registered on player 1. so for example, if player 4 presses 'r' halfway to shield, player 1's character will shield instead. i tried on 1.42 and the same problem exists. would anyone else like to check on their end to see if this problem is reproducible? thanks!

also, i noticed that transitions take a lot longer than they did before on r79. like after selecting characters and pressing start, there is quite a noticeable delay in loading the next screen.

That's a good question :P this is caused from changes in 1.40 in disc loading aparently.

on my sd card i put v1.37 back on it, it worked, but i also noticed it took a little longer to load the game, the usb flash drive i have i still have 1.40 on i, it loaded it a lot quicker without caching any files

Since r31 (v1.31) I have been experiencing freezing issues when saving SMS… Not always, but sometimes, especially with the last one (r42). However, the random freezes reported by me before during gameplay are over since r38/r39.

Either way keep up the good work, you guys are doing amazingly!

A little feedback about using cheat codes:

Tried both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Shadow The Hedgehog with cheat codes.
The games both load fine and the cheats are present through what I could play.
Although, the problem comes when there is a Saving required for the games.

Shadow freezes upon the "Last Story Unlocked" pop-up. You can press A and hear the gunshot that you have selected OK, but the pop-up screen remains.
For Smash Bros. Melee, whenever the game decides to save, the game just freezes and had to reset it.

Tried three times with each game and got the same results.
There might be a conflict between saving and using cheat codes with Nintendon't.

EDIT: Also, forgot to say that when I turn Cheats OFF, both games load without the additional content from the cheats, just like the save I had before activating the cheats.

Are cheats even needed at this point? For SSBM they were useful because you couldn't save, but now that it works, I don't see the point. But it might be just me, I don't like playing with cheats.

Anyways, I've managed to create a cache.txt for Twilight Princess, using mostly the files that I saw were loaded everytime you move to another area (Link/Wolf and Midna models, different clothes and Shields, backgrounds, I think the first file is for the camera adjustment after it loads, some screens in the inventory and the full map; and some bgm files because there were just a few of those, most of the music files i ignored because they'd take too much space on memory..) There are also a few others that might or might not be useful but since they were loaded almost in every area I visited, I included them. This was done with a end-game save, so there might be things that are or aren't loaded earlier in the game, I'll probably test it later.

Finally, the most important files are STG_00.arc and a bunch of R_XX_00.arc files that are separated in different folders inside Stage (for example, F_SP121 and D_MN10, each corresponding to a different area). This time I'm following what VinsCool said about using only the filenames without the folders, but i'm a bit skeptical about it working here... TV is being used right now so I'll test later or tomorrow to be sure, in the worst case I'd have to see which files are loaded in the slowest areas and cache only those because there are too many of them.

If anyone wants to test it in the mean time and check if it's still slow when moving between areas, please do so. If there's no change, then it's most likely to be caused for the missing "folder structure" for each file.

Like I said before, it is not just for unlocking stuff right from the start and such, but there are actually some cheat codes that modify stages, gameplay or add some other thing to the game to make it more enjoyable.

Besides, what is the point of having cheat codes implemented in Nintendon't then since "(saving) now works, and you don't see the point"?
Don't mean to be harsh or anything, but cheat codes is one of the things I wanted to be added to Gamecube games in some other way that was not DM, and Devo doesn't have that option either.
