Hey all, I've got a problem putting roms on my M3Lite/microSD card.

I can get some roms on my SD card no problem, but when I try to add more roms (e.g. Animal Crossing WW, Pokemon Ranger, NFS Carbon), and try to load to the M3Lite by running the Passcard from the main menu, it gets stuck at the "This product is not endorsed by Nintendo" message, then if I remove the rom or load it in GBA mode (which won't run the games I know), all the files are corrupt.

I've got:

NDS Lite
M3 Lite
Passcard
SanDisk microSD 1GB
v29 Game Manager & Firmware

(microSD card formatted to FAT16 w/ 64k cluster size)

and I'm patching the games using the GM with the settings on the M3 Wiki.

I also know the CRC32 checks on the games are correct (checked) and the Roms are from a good source (that 'G' site), so its not them. If I add the Roms that are causing problems (Pokemon Ranger, NFS Carbon - haven't tried AC:WW) by themselves (i.e. they are the only games/items on the SD card) they work fine, its only when I add the games that usually work, then add 1 of/all of those 3 games I can't load anything.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this please?

Thank you in advance!

edit: I've ran 'chkdsk' and I've got no errors on the card, so the card seems to be okay.

Weird problem, why not backup your save files and reformat just in case and try this again. Make sure the pcboard is making good contact with slot2 as well by adjusting it in the case or adjusting the case itself. From the way this looks it really looks like it's the card @ fault, so I would go with the reformat.

thanks, I've already got all my save games from the NDSSAVE folder backed up, I usually back them all up whenever I've been playing a game for a while anyway

I've reformatted the SD card a few times now and still no luck. The M3 Lite is still in it's original casing (after having problems with the first one I got, I sent it back and this is the replacement).

Thing is, I could understand this if no games worked, but its just when I try adding any of these other games on top of the 7 I have that world fine. There isn't any reason I can think of why this is happening. :S lol

it is definitely not a problem I'm aware of...why not try to add roms 1 by one and troubleshoot that way. See if it's adding a specifc rom that's giving you a problem?

AKA put all of your old games on and it should still work, then out of your new games, add them 1 by 1 and after each rom boot up the m3 and check to see what's going on. See if you can find the problem that way.

Yup, I've tried add the 'new' roms one by one, and if I add NFS Carbon or Pokemon Ranger I get problems.

(I've given up on Animal Crossing, I don't really want that game anymore after playing it on my friend's DS [retail version], so it's just NFS Carbon and Pokemon Ranger I want on now).

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I've got 'beup 0.3' on as well (with folders for images etc), but thats the same as the 'old' games, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. :/

homebrew like beup can attribute to corrupting the sd card as homebrew developers sometimes don't take into account of the way different fat drivers work for different devices (actually not totally developer's fault since m3/g6 team aren't very lenient on homebrew as they do not officially release their drivers and developing tools as open source). Try taking off beup and tring again. Also if it's just adding one of these new games that's causing a proble, I would recheck the sources of your roms..although it should be ok if the crc32 checks out.

Yeah, could be beup, but since I've been adding the 'new' games, I haven't actually ran beup, I've copied it onto the SD card, but thats it. I might try the games now without beup and see if that works. (If not I'll try tomorrow morning).

edit: nope, still no luck. tried all the old games only, then added NFS Carbon, then put on the BACKING skin I use, corrupt files.

so when you actually add the rom via the game manager (nfs carbon), what actually happens, what does the file structure look like in terms of corruption?

in the GM and viewing on PC, it looks normal, its only on DS its just random characters etc.

However, I think it might be one of my save games causing a problem. I've just added one of the old games and NFS:C with my BACKING folder, worked fine. Copied my old game save game onto card, tried again, worked fine.

I think I know which game it is as well. *crosses fingers*

edit: I was wrong >_

ummm.....BACKING is the wallpaper folder, the save games are in NDSSAVES. Are you deleting a preset background theme? That is going to cause problems for sure.

no, in the BACKING folder I've only got a wallpaper/background I've downloaded, I'm not trying to mess with the standard wallpapers XD (I don't even know how to go about doing that, lol)

Whew, that's a relief, though usually it just uses the default theme but I can see problems occuring if that happened. But it's good that it seems like it's a corrupt save file....not sure how that happened either though. Are you repatching all of your old games as well in addition to the new games?

Yep, repatching all the old games when I put them onto card.

If it is a savegame, I'm going to have to copy each of the old games across one by one and try it that way. If they all work, then, erm, no idea what to do next, lol. I'll try that later on.

Thanks for your help

edit: added all my old games, the backups of my save games, beup (+ the folders to go with it) and my BACKING folder, and everything works fine. :/

edit 2: as mentioned ^ all my old games etc work fine, its only when I add NFS Carbon or Pokemon Ranger with the GM I get stuck at the "This product..." screen.

have you tried it the other way around since it works when you just add the new games? AKA add the new games first and then go through your old games 1 by 1. There's something strange going on here.

at this point it's safe to assume that something is broken. And if the microsd checks out through scandisk and chkdsk....I'd wager it's the card reader or the m3 that's broken. Perhaps it's time to look into a replacement?

P.S. I'd also try updating the firmware and reinstalling the game manager once again after you download it from m3adapter.com to make sure nothing is wrong there. When you update, do it through the gba mode to make sure it completes.
