According to YYJoy.com the AceKard Slot 1 flashcart is ready for its launch!

Translation from the YYJoy article goes on to say that the AceKard team is preparing for the product launch in the next few days and that YYJoy will have some sort of contest or control over some of the product. The translation is very hard to understand but they do mention something about a gift for 100 Yuan ($13). So far the AceKard team has gotten Moonshell working on the device as well as Tony Hawk's Down Hill Jam. The device is rumored to be launching with a very low price of around $40-60. The AceKard uses its own file system (AKFS) but does support clean ROMs including DS Download Play and microSD memory. The device is supposedly also able to be used as a no pass device for other Slot 2 flashcarts and is able to utilize saves from them as well. The AceKard will be the first real competition for the DS-X so we'll just have to wait and see how this battle turns out.

Current Specs from AceKard.com:
* Same size as genuine DS card.
* Flashme/Passme is NOT required.Plug-and-Play
* Low electricity consuming,appoximating genuine DS card’s.
* Support CleanRom directly.
* Compatible all DS games.
* Support link slot2.
* Flashcard in slot2 can be started directly by AceKard.
* Infinity Capacity!
* Use high speed TF card.Put more games as you will.
* NO any latency when playing game.
* Perfect Save System.
* Use original flash chip.Never lose your save.
* Use other flashcard’s save files directly.
* DIY interface
* Tiny boot core.
* The menu program is in TF card.
* And can be updated anytime easily.
* You can DIY boot core and GUI in Windows.

* Compatible all DS games.
This one I don't believe.

* Support link slot2.
Does this mean opera? or just:
* Flashcard in slot2 can be started directly by AceKard.

* Infinity Capacity!
Wow, the first lie!

* Use high speed TF card.Put more games as you will.
So my "slow" card won't work?

* Perfect Save System.
Doesn't that sound awsome?

Waiting for some reviews.. this one might be on my wishlist this x-mas!

Don't be so critical of bad Chinese translations.

It does have 100% compatibility like the DS-X as it can play the DS browser and even the new Tony Hawk & Spider Man games without any problems.

Yes it can work as a nopass and it supports other slot 2 devices such as the Rumble pack, etc.

Infinite Capacity is referring to microSD support as it can get as big as you like. I think infinite was supposed to be translated to what ever size you want.

Another bad translation as they just suggest as fast microSD as every other flashcart manufacture does as well.

The save system is supposed to be able to run all your old saves from previous flashcarts which does sound awesome to me.

Can't wait, if it holds out.

Wouldnt mind the OG label lol, thats a classic.

Any news on GBA, with a slot 1? would be good despite what ppls say (not possible, get a slot2 etc.).

This and the dsX only real solutions ey.

By the looks of a preview/review yyjoy have done previously the Acekard still requires software to 'patch' roms. Not just a simple drag and drop, which is a real downer.

Why is it such a 'downer' to patch roms? In my case, going to 'a certain site', downloading the game (max 2 per 48 hours or so), or waiting for RapidShare, then transferring the fire to SD after taking out the SD of my SC and reshuffling the files so everything fits, takes FAR more time than just doing a quick patch on these files. Patching really is only about 5% of the time that the entire process takes. And if you like a game, you'll play it for several hours, so patching is not a problem at all anymore.

I'm far more interested in a low price, easy-to-exchange microSD and full compatibility. Also, a good menu would be cool, I really hate the SC menu (it does the job, it just feels cheap). So the hints at a 'DIY' interface for the Acekard certainly sounds good to me. Price sounds good too, so for me, this looks like a winner.

(edit: typo)

The AceKard requires patching only to change the format to the new file system but the ROMs are still clean. They will also have some other features that are unknown as of yet. And DS Download Play does work and the AceKard will support 2GB and up microSD cards!

To have working DS Download Play for everything is a dream at the moment...

If it does what it says on the tin then I'll definately snap one up.

Woohoo...here we go, here we go, here we go!

Been waiting patiently for some info on this, and so far so good.

I don't know why but I always had a good feeling about the AceKard!

The DSX isn't perfect with every game. The thing with DSX is that it has clean rom dumps on the cart but it still has to patch the games when they are being ran. The compatibility isn't 100% and without a firmware update you most likely won't be playing every game there is without some kind of trouble.

I think someone misunderstood the "clean roms" thingy.
Clean rom support means you download a game, extract the .nds from the .zip and put the .nds straight onto the cart. If the LEAST byte (even bit) is modified, then the rom isn't clean anymore! it's that simple!

Thus the acekard doesn't support clean roms.
Drag and drop is something addictive, that's one sure thing!
the benefits: works on any OS, faster, doesn't require updates, no problems of languages, no problems with shitty interface which I'm sure there will be for the Acekard, easy management...)

Also I wonder if the 2nd picture in the main post is a picture of the final design of the cart...

We're trying to get a unit for a review, but still I'm extremely skeptical.

Why are you sceptical? Beacause it dosen't have the same hype as the ds-x had? I really think that the acekard is gonna whip the ds-x ass! Well I hope so ... And the estimated price is around the 30 dollars!!
