Hacking Should we all update to 4.5 using the 1.0 method before updating to OMEGA 2.0?

After updating to omega it's not possible anymore to update to 4.5 even with original catridge ? (I'm on 4.1).

It's possible with original cartridge. Not possible with rom.

something i messed up on mentioning is that having emunand updated to latest firmware is only an issue when you have gateway version 2.01b 2.02b works but has bricking code so id say just get omega if u can..again im running it flawlessly with every game i throw at it

I updated from 4.4 to 4.5 cause sometimes i was freezing after cliking on nds profile (had to reboot then start again)... Hope 4.5 fix this

Got a 4.3 and a 4.4 here both running Omega, aswell as Son has a 4.5, freezes happened on all 3 with earlier launchers especially if Red Cart was in on booting to GW mode... Never had issues with any games on any version of the launcher, like they said at the start you should have full compatibilty across the 4.1-4.5 board, like said above, its the trimming and super trimming that causes issues, games run fine via both emuNAND and without useing untouched roms, or split roms

I'm confused, why is an update to 4.5 required? I've been using 4.1.0-6 since I got my Gateway3DS, with no issues. Doesn't team gateway say that 4.1 is fully compatible?

An update to 4.5 isnt required, like they said from Day 1, they offer full compatibility on 4.1-4.5, a couple of random bugs surfaced for a very limited number of users which fueled speculation over needing 4.5 for full true compatibility, Its not needed and not essential, the updates over the 4.x firmwares werent huge feature adding updates and all quite minor. neither of my 2 personal Units are on 4.5 and never had any issues and always ran latest launchers

So I have a 4.3 and just ordered a gateway. I have the gateway 1.0 software and a 4.5 firmware rom. Can someone explain how i update it to 4.5. Thanks

Did you even read the bloody thread? You don't need to update to 4.5 if all you're going to do is go into gateway mode.

never set up gateway on my 4.4 3ds so should i update to 4.5 or should i just go for 2.01 OMEGA right away ? -

It's easy to do. You just put the 1.0 Launcher.dat on your 3DS SD card, and launch your region's rom with the 4.5 firmware update on it. It should ask you to update the firmware to 4.5 before playing the game. This method was not recommended by Gateway, but I did it back then, without problems. My firmware is now 4.5.

Launcher.dat should be CRC32: 469d6704 and MD5: 062b40817fa7e1ec4b12fb8c1a9b4310

Hmm, I have some questions. Do I have to use 1.0 Launcher.dat + GW_Release_1.0.zip? For booting Luigi mansion game for updating to 4.5? Also do I have wifi on for them to download 4.5 or does it come in a seperat file?

Launcher.dat is just a file inside the GW_Release_1.0.zip. Just make sure it's the right file (compare the MD5 and crc32). Extract it out of the zip and use it. Turn wifi off. The update is inside the rom file that you wrote on the microSD.

Why the hell don't you guys just use emuNAND!??!?!??!
You could have 7.1 on emunand.

I'm on 4.3.0-10 and it works just FINE with emuNAND!
