Update: 6-22-15: Looking for Translation help, has anyone got the time or interest in helping me? Thanks guys/girls.
Purpose: To make a complete translation and allow others to fix my Japanese. Unless I can find more talented Japanese translators.
What broke Doombringer's patch before:
Incorrect patching and poor hex replacement caused Doom's game crashes!
Current WyndCrosser Download:
Download the Earth Seeker Backup.zip, unzip all files.
note: My dropbox ended up destroying my files, so I'm kind of back at about March 2014 time period. I have the game about 70% translated but only about 2% is in the game. The game likes to lock up, if you change too much too quickly.
1 - Have a working Earth Seeker Iso File
2 - Extract my zip file and open Wii Scrubber140
3 - Open the Iso File.
4 - Open Partition 2
4a - Open Folder FFX and extract all four files (ETCMESSAGE, FFXFILE, GAMEMESSAGE, and SYSMESSAGE, these may be under a different name slightly in the iso)
4b - Open Folder 2D and extract etj_title and fileselect PIX files.
4c - Everytime you extract from Wii Scruber, it will bring you back to the 1st and 2nd Partition menu.
5 - In my zip folder you'll see the patches for these files.
5a - Apply the patches to each file you've extracted.
6 - Now find each file again in Wii Scrubber and right-click and select replace.
6a - Make sure you replace with the right files, it's easy to mess this up.
7 - The ISO will save automatically, close Wii Scrubber.
8 - Open up WBFS Manager and add the ISO to your USB Drive.
9 - I am running this one USB Loader GX (2.3 ios249 Rev 20).
9a - No other versions were tested and no DVDs were used.
Current Status:
NOTE: This is obviously the biggest part. ALSO, there's an issue that the Earth Seeker.iso likes to crash (black screen or lock up) when too much is modified. So, I'm doing about 10-40 lines of translations, then test the iso. If it works, great. I make a backup and continue working. If it doesn't, I have to spend time identifying why it doesn't work.
SysMessages and GameMessages will be translated first and released to the community. Now this Beta will only be Menu's and some menu dialogue. This will be rough. I'm hoping to have other translator assist in the future. Below you'll see my break down of the translation. I'm doing very quick and rough translations. I'll correct grammar and context, when the actual hex editing is done (or if I end up developing a patcher).
(Menu's and such)
SYSMESSAGES.FFX 4% Done
GAMEMESSAGES.FFX 3% Done
(Items)
FFXFILE.PAC 1% Done
(Dialogue - This one will be left for last - VERY LARGE)
ETCMESSAGES.FFX 1% Done
Areas that need identifying:
Title Screen and other picture based areas, i.e. STRAP screen and Tutorial screens, which are hard coded.
Initial Proof of Concept:
Proof of editing done using a simple Hex program. You'll see mistakes here and there, but this was the initial attempt to see if it worked
