Well I know there are a few of these on the board and they are all a tiny bit different then me so I am very sorry if you have seen this before but I want to make sure that I don't brick my Wii or semi brick it... SO what I did to try and get rid of all the homebrew stuff is load homebrew uninstall/delete everything in there, then I loaded Hackmii installer and uninstalled Homebrew and HackMii in that setting... it then backed out on me so I went to update my wii to finish the job and I get an error 32004 when I try to update my Wii.... so I figured maybe there was still things left so I formatted the memory after deleting my eShop account and still the error is there... Now I have no homebrew things, all of my data from 5 years is gone, and I still can't update... I did some googling and found that HackMii/BootMii is still probably stopping updates since I had that set before... I thought I uninstalled those but low and behold if I hold reset the hack menu still comes up... now I have not a clue what I did with my gamecube controller but I'm guessing I'm gonna need it since I can't do anything on that menu with the WiiMote... What do I do from here to get rid of the rest of the hacks? I know a lot of you will say I don't need to get rid of it, and just update all the mods, but honestly I just bought a Wii-U and have turned over a new leaf. I now buy my games and support the developers and want to be able to have my Wii update itself without worry, I want to link my old Wii (its a limited edition RED one from Marios birthday) and I'd like to keep it upstairs and still play all the old virtual console games that I have now payed for on Wii-U legally.... I will be looking for that gamecube controller but I just want to say THE ONLY THING I WAS USING THE MODS FOR WAS THE WRONG THINGS, so if any of you know a good way to get rid of all this and bring my limited Wii back to cherry Id be greatful... I feel like I'm going to have to find that darn gamecube controller and thats fine, just hope I can turn off those settings and do the updates like I wanted too.... If the mods had warnings at the start that they could never be taken off 100% I would have never done it... thank you for your time and have a great day

Buddy... Wii will not get any update anymore. If you are already at 4.3, there is nothing to update...

Now if you are in a older version, i can't help at all...

All i know is that you can remove all the IOS/Channels used by the mods like Dx2, Hermes, etc with the MultiModManager.
But you really need to know what you will remove, otherwise...brick. The good side is that it gives a explanation of what is each thing and you always can use a syscheck to further verify it.

My tip for helping you that:
Hack it again with HackMii, install those 2 tools i said. do the syscheck then go to MultiModManager and remove what is not necessary for your Wii to become stock based on the syscheck log and finally uninstalll HackMii/Homebrew Channel.

I removed a few IOS from mine today because i got mine second hand and the last owner probably did horrendous things to it (There is even some scratches on it as if wolverine tried to play with it). A bunch of useless/unused stuff on it. It is hacked but is way more closer to a stock due the fact i removed things that were hacked and weren't being used, i think i would follow the steps above to make mine stock again.

My biggest problem is the blocking of the updates and there being anything left over.... there WILL be more updates since they still sell the system and it does say I have an update but it wont let me download it... I am still looking for that GameCube controler and when I find it there has to be a way to 100% stock my system... I know you just got a system and I am not sure what firmware I am on right now (I'm writing this away from home) but why does Nintendo make it so hard to get your system back to factory>? punishment? I don't think thats fair and I would have figured that any guide made to help hack a system would have said that its FOREVER and could never be undone.... I looked all around the net for guides about doing homebrew hacks and only one and a half say (that I found) that it can never be undone... why has no one cared to do a full restore? what if someone needed warranty support or something? Im pretty sure I have 4.2 firmware that was updated though the homebrew channel... I dunno maybe I should just re-hack it and use it to play copied Wii games again since the world is not letting me return it to stock... I would go 100% legal and buy my games if I could do that but I wouldn'twant to take the chance of paying for game downloads just to get banned from Nintendo afterward of my system bricking or something... I really just want to take advantage of using my nintendo ID on both systems and playing games I've downloaded on both.... maybe that can't even be done but Don't see why it shouldnt....

You should NEVER format your wii or that itself will cause a brick.
As for the stock, i do not believe there is a way. I think all you can do is remove priiloader, bootmii and homebrew channel using priiloader install and then hackmii installer.
Or I think you can make a new nand with
ohneswanzenegger

and then remove bootmii.

I use the hard drive for back ups... I did remove bootmii but the boot options are still in place like not having to hit A when you start the system and stopping it from updating and junk.... I did format the system already and it still works... it also still has bootmii if you hold reset so its still there.... I do see what your saying though... whats the easiest way to put bootmii and the homebrew and the usb loader back form that screen.... I do know I need to find my gamecube controller first... I need the latest items... Illl just load the system up with a ton of backups and junk since I have the wii-u I guess this will just be my back up playign system since I already have a hard drive FULL of wii games... who would have thought that trying to do it the right way would be so hard LOL so what I need is the latest files for homebrew, bootmii, hackmii and usb loader... Ill get other WADs later to intall like the old snes games and some of the great homebrew Snes games LOL I just need to find that damn game cube control ha ha

What if he got the original wads through NUS downloader, install and then try to remove the HackMii/Bootmii
I'm not so sure that can't be done (going back to stock), but I'm not sure either about if this will not lead to issues too...

nah, Ill just use my machine for a back up player... since it doesn't look like I can download WiiWare and Virtual console games on both at the same time anyway.... (havent tried it but it looks glum) do you have a link or website with the newest files that I can install from the boot menu (the one I need the gamecube controller for) for homebrew channel, madmii, bootmii, and usb loader? thanks

You should NEVER format your wii or that itself will cause a brick.
Where did you read that?
If you format your wii from the system menu it should be safe.. Personally i did that a few times myself to get rid of some weird problems i had with my wii.
Only thing left then is deinstalling priiloader, hbc and bootmii. Which can be done from the same apps you used to install them with in the first place.

It still could be something is left.. But you should be able to use the wii like it was never hacked after this.

Ps. Even nintendo reccomends formatting on their site in some situations..

The screen you see when holding the reset button is Priiloader, not BootMii. BootMii is for making/restoring a backup of your NAND flash chip. BootMii can be run from the HomeBrew channel or if you have an early Wii with BootMii installed in Boot2 you can boot it by having the right files on the SD card. To change settings in Priiloader i think you need the hacks.ini on your SD card. You should then be able to turn off block updates. I wouldn't recommend updating though.

Everyone on the site says if you are hacked you shouldn't format.
But whatever if it works for you it works.
And Nintendo is obviously talking about a non-hacked wii.

Doesn't settings.txt store the option to block updates? I'm afraid you will need put HBC back in your Wii, and then trial erroring until you find out what's blocking updates. Another way is update your system through disc, if you are lucky you didn't block disc updates too :P

I know that you can use Startpatch to change your settings.txt, but still it could be VERY dangerous because we don't know exactly what's blocking updates.

It must be the priiloader hacks doing funny stuff as mk2scort says.

So... from were Im at... why is there no way to restore the system? Why can't I bring it back to vanilla? I am still gonna reload it with the hacked apps but I was wondering why there is no way to do this, there are countless posts on the net asking how to do this same thing and all met with "why would you want to do that?" but not much help... Mainly I wanted to put my nintendo account on it so I could play the games I paid for legitly but I will not put ANY of my personal info on a machine that is not 100% legit it has my credit card info in junk... plus I'd hate for nintendo to pull my account...

so enough of that I am just going to load it back up with game iso's... you say its the pre-loader that is still there and still stopping the updates? but if I load the SD with that file you are saying it will bring back the bootmi and homebrew channels? I wiped my SD card thinking it was over but I guess now I need all the files again... I know it has to still be hackible... right? I mean it didnt update it was just wiped.... I should be able to load what I need from that preloader.. its been some time since I hacked it but I do know I loaded everything from that screen cuz I bought a gameqube controler just to do it...

is there a link someone can point me to that I can get the files and re-hack it? If it matters I hacked it with the smash bros game...

I do know its the preloader blocking the updates... I remember the video I used telling me to go in there and turn off the updates and the 24/7 updates.... plus the same screen had the skip the "Press A" screen at the start with the warning about hurting yourself... silly me I thought all that would have been wiped uninstalling the other apps... LOL

Man, you're better off scooping up a vanilla Wii on eBay than to go through this tedious task of turning a Ho Wii into a Housewife Wii.

Buy a new one dude and put your info there...........

If you want a vanilla wii, you need to know how BootMii is installed (IOS or BOOT2)

It's incredibly hard to follow your line of thinking, but it sounds like you have PriLoader installed. Make sure you don't have your SD card in the system.

The only way to restore back to an original NAND is to use Ohneswanzenegger. Basically grab a copy of your NAND from bootmii, and rebuild a new NAND profile using your S/N etc... then flash it back to the Wii.

However that will leave you with a stock set of IOS and empty settings. To remove BootMii and priiloader is a bit more work, and if done incorrectly, will leave you with a

Though to be honest, if you can build a new NAND and flash it back, just leave BootMii and Priiloader alone. If no SD card is in the Wii, they'll never load anyways.

Where in God's name did you hear the Wii was getting updates? 4.3 SM hasn't been updated in almost 2 years.

I,m pretty sure you can still load Priiloader without an SD card. Doesn't it insert it self into the system menu.

Meant BootMii, usually gets skipped if the SD card isn't in. But putting in a fresh NAND should take out Priiloader.
